For once, my quilt labels didn't match the quilt! So, I created my own. Here's a mini-tutorial on how to do it: Print the text (I used 18 pt. Bradley Hand ITC, in BOLD)* onto the paper side of freezer paper. Cut two squares of PREWASHED fabric (prewashed fabric will accept ink better) the size you want your label plus seam allowances. Iron waxy side of freezer paper onto wrong side of one square. Lay the other square on top, wrong sides together. Trace words with a fine tip pen (I used a Pigma Micron 03). (Tip: Hold up to window to see text better.) Peel off freezer paper once you're satisfied with how the writing looks. Iron over your text, to set the ink. Stitch the two squares right sides together, leaving a section open for turning. Turn right side out, press, and hand sew label to quilt. (Note: If you are able to print mirror image text, you can iron the freezer paper onto the wrong side of the upper square.) *Or, make it personal and just use your own handwriting on the fabric. ☺
