Tampa Bay Lightning left wing Ryan Malone was charged Saturday with DUI and possession of cocaine after a traffic stop, police said.

An officer saw Malone's SUV strike a curb after making a left turn from the centre lane early Saturday, said Tampa Police Lt. Paul Lusczynski.

After being pulled over, Malone got out of his vehicle and the officer smelled alcohol on his breath, Lusczynski said.

According to the police report, the officer also found 1.3 grams of cocaine in one of Malone's pockets.

Malone refused to take field sobriety tests, but a breath test given at the jail recorded blood alcohol levels of 0.112 and 0.116 per cent, Lusczynski said.

Florida law considers a driver impaired at 0.08.

Malone was released from the Hillsborough County jail on $2,500 US bond.

Jail records didn't show whether he had an attorney.

Police impounded Malone's SUV.

Lightning general manager Steve Yzerman said Malone would not travel with the team for Tampa Bay's final regular season game Sunday against the Washington Capitals.

He declined further comment.

The Lightning are set to meet Montreal in the first round of the playoffs.

A Mini Rant/State Of... on the NHL

The playoffs have started to commence as I speak. Yes I am exicted. Hoewver as a Philadelphia Flyers fan I feel set up for year after year of dissappiontment. I think Chicago is a piuck to repeat. I also hear that San Jose and Anahiem are dark horses. No love for the east except for Pittsbrugh. What I'm hoping for is San Jose vs. Philadelphia but what I would like it to be is Anahiem vs. Pittsburgh. Though I'm not sure Marc Andre Fluery is not as solid as he used to be but they just won the first game. As for my Flyers don't know what it is they manage to beat themselves at the playoffs. I hope to be proven wrong. As for the season as a whole. I personally believe that Commisioner Bettman is starting to fall asleep at the wheel. I think he's and the league as a whole a little too contempt. One of the problems being that despite being one of the best players in the world with one Stanley Cup and two Olympic Gold Medals Sidney Crosby is still not over with a lot of American hockey fans. First..he's not american, also yes he is a bit of a diver and a whiner to the refs. Also I can see despite being dubbed 'The Next One' Crosby will never have the same love and respect that Wayne Gretzky had. I think he has come to accept that. Alex Ovechkin on the other hand, this has been a season from hell for him. No medal in any color for team Russia in the Oympics and the Washington Capitals don't make the playoffs. I know the fans in the states like Ovi slightly better than Crosby but whatever ball he needs to get on he's gotta get on it quick. The majority of the team are in America yet the only top American players I can name are Zach Parise, Patrick Kane, Nick Bonino, Ryan Miller, Brooks Orpik, and Bobby Ryan. Oh BTW I knew who the hell TJ Oshie was before the damn Olympics. This is the problem they are top players but there is no one except Miller and Parise to sell the game to Americans to. Not enough of them have accepted Ovechkin and they have almost completely rejected Crosby. But it doesn't change the fact that they and others saved the league. Therefore I think people need to see Parise more, I think an original six team (hopefully my Flyers) needs to win the Cup. Also the coverage on NBCSN has been good but there's room for improvement. They are just now covering every game, how llong have you had the NHL, and once in a blue moon you can see it main NBC. Thats a problem I have with NBCSN as a whole excellent at NFL and College Football and surprisingly Premier League soccer but everything else SMH. I mean what exactly are they doing to set themselves apart from ESPN which does th exact same thing? So Overall the NHL has come so far but so far to go.

What Went Wrong With the 2013-2014 Washington Capitals?
It was a turbulent season for the Washington Capitals.  The Capitals were a team that depended on the powerplay to keep their playoff hopes alive.  The five on five goal scoring was not there most of the season and the defense and g...

In the last year we've seen our Explorers use Glass in really inspiring and practical day-to-day ways. Something we've also noticed and are very excited about is how Explorers are using Glass to drive their businesses forward. A number of companies have already teamed up with enterprise software developers to create new ways to serve their customers and reach their business goals.

The Washington Capitals and Schlumberger are just two of the companies that are at the forefront of exploring new possibilities with Glass. The Washington Capitals partnered with APX Labs to create a fan experience where real time stats, instant replay and different camera angles are all brought directly to Capitals fans via Glass. Schlumberger, the world’s largest oilfield services company, partnered with Wearable Intelligence and is using Glass to increase safety and efficiency for their employees in the field.

This is only the beginning of what’s possible for Glass and business. If you’re a developer who is creating software for U.S. based enterprises, we’d love your help in building the future of Glass at Work. Get in touch with us here:
