I got to get behind an apron (thanks Pat Smith) and a counter (thanks McDonald’s) and got behind a good cause (thanks “McHappy Day”). I represented Dynamic Closures this year and it was great time. I was instantly wowed by the systems that were in place to guide a crew towards the goal of making every order matter. The amount of orders and the varying levels of customization combined with the speed of the orders coming made for a very interesting few hours. I was set up in the prep area to man the sandwich station. I made McChickens. I made double cheese burgers. I made fillet-o-fishes and yes, I even made a great deal of Big Macs. I even got to make a few salads! Thankfully, with the right guidance I got everything out without dropping anything on the ground or me for that matter. Thank you Maddie for the encouragement and Curtis for the patient and courteous guidance as I am sure without it I would have been on mop duty, I am sure. More importantly I was wowed by the atmosphere. Based on the aforementioned, one would imagine the atmosphere there would be one of stress and driven based on simply speed of service. It was quite the contrary. Everyone I worked with, whether they were dealing with staff or the guests showing up they evoked a positive company culture and yes, every order was still the top priority. McHappy Day serves to support local charitable organizations in their endeavor to raise funds for causes that need attention by providing a percentage of their sales during the day to these causes. Locally in my community of Cornwall, the proceeds are being donated to the Children’s Treatment fund. McDonalds lending a hand and calling on local community members to get behind the cause says a lot about how they view our community and those that are in it. It is more than just the next order. So with that, thank you Dynamic Closures for the opportunity and thank you McDonald’s for doing something good for the community. My thanks as well goes out to the manager Pat Smith for the invitation, the owner Charles for stopping in to say hello and thank you.
