As part of my new November schedule I am going to try and watch 1 movie a day. Nothing special, just whatever movie I feel like seeing on that particular day. Today it was #MagicMike . Oh yes, that male stripper movie. Honestly, while seeing guys dance around half naked was fun, the movie itself was fucking garbage.

First of all, aside from Matthew and Channing, no one could act to save their life. Sorry Olivia, I may enjoy the fact that you're a #Moonie , but you can't act. Secondly, the whole thing doesn't work as a whole! There were like four different stories going on at once and several plot points that just didn't work at all. I felt kind of like the third wheel on someone else's date while watching it, like this was just some random day in someone's life that wasn't really interesting and I didn't really need to be there but couldn't leave. Speaking of the plot, what the fuck was up with that random love story ending?? She hates the guy the whole movie and then just randomly wants to bang him at the end? No sense whatsoever, period. This is an example of the writers not knowing what to do with the crap they have so they just slap a love scene at the end and call it good. Seriously, with better writers this could have been both eye candy and a good time but apparently they could only afford one or the other.

Lastly, what everyone really watches this movie for: the half naked men dancing around on stage. Not gonna lie, it was fun to watch, but I could just as easily see half of what was shown by watching Step Up :P That's not stripping, that's dancing. Call it what it is. Had there been more nakedness (and no I am not saying penises everywhere!) then I would call it stripping, but there wasn't so it's not. Not to mention some of the stuff they showed during the dance scenes were just dumb (and in some cases ewww in my opinion... and no I am not going to go into detail). Like the whole scene where the 'fireman' throws out his back. What was the point other than to say 'hey fat chicks, strippers don't like you either." I thought including that scene was rather a dick move actually (no pun intended).

So, having seen this and Burlesque, I can honestly say that Burlesque was hands down 100% better than this. It's not about girl eye candy vs boy eye candy, it's about the fact that it's just a better movie, period. Burlesque is actually a movie I would watch again, not this nonsense.
