They're are massive bendings happening to the buildings on the left and right.  They are look like fun house tastic mirror.  Imagine if you worked in a building that looked that that... you'd would feel like your about to fall out, allot of the time probably. I'd would.

I've one too. Well, it's not quite a fish eye, but it's 12mm on a full frame sensor.

I love the warped view it makes, and with just the slightest tilt.  It's probably my favorite lens... but that's also probably because it was my latest purchase... my favorite anything is the last thing  I Purchased.   Bwwwahhh ha ha ha ha ha

Got another one for you!

Upload my photos at full size is an option!

I am currently using: 0.02 GB (0.37%) of 5 GB.

I am going to turn this on since I am already uploading at 2048LE and see it my usage significantly increases over time.

Church of the Good Shepherd 3
Lake Tekapo, New Zealand
Day 14 of 2013 South Island Road Trip

Dawn shoot number 11 for the trip and number 28 for the year, and I was still fighting the hordes to try to get a clear shot.  I think they must have all run off chasing a seagull when I took this one, as I managed to avoid getting any people in the photo.

The sun was about 1/2 hour away from rising over the dip in the hills on the right of the photo, and as it did the fog started to roll in over the lake.

I had to switch lenses to take this photo as my trusty 17-35mm developed a case of the fogging (first time ever), and refused to clear.  Thankfully my 28-300mm stayed fog free.

As both sides are due another trip to Wembley I thought I'd write piece on the Brentford vs Wigan Athletic Freight Rover Trophy Final. The most interesting part of this blogpost is probably the video of Brentford's semi final with Newport County at Griffin Park. Early days of cable television and Martin Tyler interviews some semi-naked Brentford players after the game. A fascinating insight into 1985...
Brentford vs Wigan Athletic: Freight Rover Trophy Final 1985 » Spirit of Mirko
Brentford and Wigan Athletic will make trips to Wembley over the next few weeks for differing reasons. Brentford will be playing in the League One play-off final against Yeovil Town, whilst Wigan Athletic will feature in the first FA Cup Final of their history against Manchester City.

Hey everyone.  I have a question, but first some background....

You may know that the UK government has passed a legislation dramatically weakening photographers' rights to their images.  The idea is that "orphaned" works may be used by anyone for any purpose - allowing corporations and companies to take images and use them for advertising or corporate gain as they see fit.  The major challenge is that websites like Facebook and others (thank you +Google for not doing this!), and software like MS Word, strip the exif data from images.  The new law would allow a company after making a "reasonable effort" to find the image's creator, to use any image as they see fit.

I think this law is wrong.  It doesn't only affect Brit's, either, as it would allow a British company or individual to do this with any orphaned image found on the internet.

What do folks think about adding a small, unobtrusive watermark in the corner? It would be fairly easy to clone, or crop out, but it might help protect against some "orphaning".  Also, how would you feel if I, or anyone, started including a small Creative Commons license statement with images posted to TLB.

Do you think either/both of these steps might help protect an image from this new legislation?

Thanks.

New version of http://lightbox.boo.org now upgraded. It shouldn't miss posts that were caught in spam or arrived out of order due to the new moderator moving stuff.

Let me know if your photo gets missed. It might take up to 30 minutes to appear by the way.

Oh, and the slideshow doesn't work to well if you have changed the date range to include a lot of photos - i'll work on that.

If you click on 'This Weeks Entries' under the rules on the left - or go to http://lightbox.boo.org you will find the website I put together to showcase the photos in the Light Box.

After the recent changes, where moderators can move posts to the Light Box (rather than the photographer re-posting) - I had to fix things up as it meant posts appear out of order.

Anyway, today I updated the website, but the upgrade process hit Google's quota limits on their datastore, so it won't finish updating until tomorrow (when the quotas reset). It won't get new photos, but you can see my new column based gallery and slidey slideshow.

Hopefully I can finish the upgrade tomorrow morning.

Today, not Yesterday, what do you believe is the purpose for the stream of images permanently saved in TLB?

I say "Today, not Yesterday..." because I believe that "today" the standards for a    #save when TLB started are lower - at least by my definition - than they were "yesterday".

When I first joined I can recall voters often saying    #delete "I would not hang this on my wall" as being the standard for the images going into TLB.

Today I do not believe a significant majority of voters would hang on their walls images that they are regularly voting       #save.

Why do I ask this; why am I curious as to the standard you apply to a    #save? Because this morning I realized that I have lowered the standards I apply to a    #save.

If no one else cares about the permanent collection being an ongoing stream of outstanding-high quality images, why should I?

I used to look at an image and ask myself would I post this image on my website - as a permanent traveler I have no walls - I no longer ask that question.

My view is that the "conglomerate Pool voter" doesn't really care about tilts and processing, blown areas, OOF images. Sure, sometimes voters do delete applying those types of criteria.

However, in the main, I believe a standard of "lowered reasonableness" is being applied to a majority of the images.

If it is a nice image with a reasonable composition and only a few blown areas, or only slightly titled, or only a little bit OOF, it will get a    #save.

Your thoughts on this Saturday morning?

Cheers,

Have a Happy Day and Think Happy Thoughts!

To follow up with +Retel Tulio discussion about non-voting posters..........

Am I the only one who dislikes commentators that do not vote?

99% of the time it is a positive comment; why not vote?

Personally, I think the rule should require a vote from all commentators

AND

Require a comment pertaining to the photograph that is understandable - not sill or crooked - and pertains to the the photograph from all voters.

The Collared Kingfisher is a medium-sized kingfisher belonging to the family Halcyonidae, the tree kingfishers. It is also known as the White-collared Kingfisher or Mangrove Kingfisher.
