Time to be out about everything.  Fuck the haters.  Party time go: Serious time!  I know I spend a lot of time being silly, but I've got some things to lay out for my friends and family, the people I respect and choose to spend my time with.  If you've got anything off-topic, silly, or negative to say about the next few topics, save us both the time - unfriend me and get out of my life.  You don't belong in my future.  (got something you want to disagree with, message me personally, we'll talk it out.  Though if I'm totally honest, I'd rather you spit it out one way or another so let me have it.) I'm liberal as shit.  I believe that all people are created equal, but not all are given an equal chance to use that.  Those of us 'in charge' have a better chance at life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness than other people.  In the US, white, straight, cis, educated, and wealthy is the way you want to be if you want the easy way out of most things.  People who lie elsewhere on those lines have it more difficult than people like me do.  At a bare minimum, that needs to be acknowledged.  The base concpt is "intersectionalism," I'll wait while you look it up.  Different circumstances affect different backgrounds in different ways, no two people alike.  However, some people's circumstances afford them greater opportunities than others.  I'm one of the lucky ones by virtue of being born in the right place at the right time.  The least I can do is acknowledge that difference. I'm atheist.  I don't believe in a higher power.  All I'm asking is that I be left to that. I believe good and evil are points on spectrums that are independent from any particular religion's judgement and individuals should be judged on the merit's they earn along those lines and not the lines within a particular god's ruleset. I'm anti-racist.  White people have it easier than any other ethnic group.  We have better opportunities, we're generally taken at our word, we're given scholarship and educational opportunities that minorities have to fight for.  I have no interest in engaging in people who believe a 'race war' is upon us.  I have no interest in engaging in people who believe white people have it more difficult because of <insert random context-less bullshit here>. I'm anti-classist.  Poor people have it more difficult than other economic groups.  Welfare is a fucking weak-as-hell attempt at re-balancing that (not even addressing the racist policies in place that pretend to be even but disproportionately affect racial minorities) but it's a start.  I'm feminist.  Along with all the other ways people can get a leg up or pushed back, the gender people present themselves as can result in another challenge to overcome.  There are no logical reasons why men (cis or otherwise) are disadvantaged across the board by virtue of being men.  I also accept that as one born into the gender that fits me, I've got it easier than those who aren't so lucky.  While there are some minor disadvantages that come from being seen as a man, they pale in comparison to the shit women put up with for not being (cis-)men.  (Side note:  "She was asking for it", "she didn't say no", "she knew what she was getting into", or any other excuses to blame the person you assaulted but refuse to admit to - fuck off.  The women in your life deserve better than you.  "All men are like that"?  The men in your life deserve better than you.  Take responsibility for your own shitty behavior and stop doing it, and stop being so hetero-normative while you're at it..  ) I'm bisexual.  If you want to get specific, I'd call myself pan-sexual but for the sake of those who don't care, I'm bi.  I'm not into everyone, but it could be anyone.  (Felicia Day, John Barrowman...)  The parts they have and the way they present have no bearing on whether or not I'm attracted to them.  The 'best' thing is:  I still look and act 'straight' so I don't ever get fucked with based on my sexuality.  (Shit, I wore a miniskirt out and only got accosted once, and it was half-assed at that!) Speaking of pan-sexual, I'm trans* positive.  I don't give a shit what physical parts someone has or says they have or anything.  You're loud and boisterous and a 'he' as far as you care?  Cool, I'm on board.  You're more feminine?  Cool, you're a she, I'm on board.  Somewhere in between?  I'm on board.  Prefer not to stick strictly with either? Awesome.  Don't give me that essentialist bullshit, most gender roles are fabricated as hell anyway.  A friend is a friend is a friend.  As a friend, you let me know what you want to be called and I will make sure I match that shit.  You got a problem with the way any of my friends prefer to be referred to?  Get the fuck out. Hardest for me: I'm anti-bullying, but hypocritical.  As much as I hate the idea of abusing someone else for amusement, I find myself doing it more often than I'd like.  No matter how small, it hurts, and nobody deserves that. Nobody deserves to feel worthless because they don't meet some weight standard, or some gender-based behavioral standard.  Nobody deserves to be hurt because they don't match the stereotypical roles someone else has laid out for them.  Nobody deserves to see the weaknesses they share exploited by their friends and family.  I find myself doing these from time to time and I should be better than that.  I know how much it hurts to be the target of bullshit like this and yet I continue to do it to others out of habit.  You all deserve better and there's no excuse for that treatment.  I've spent too much of my life around people who excuse and enable it and I'm done with that. I hope that over time  I stop this and stop being a hurtful human being.  My compatrioits deserve better.  The people I follow and continue to associate with who do that are the first to be removed from my life.  You are enablers and abusers, and until you stop contributing to the pain in others' lives, there is nothing you do that will make up for what you are doing now. So, the short of all this:  I'm a liberal, atheist, anti-racist, anti-classist, trans-positive, cis & bi-sexual dude.  As a white male who comes off straight, I've got it easy, and so do a lot of the people I know.  Acknowledge that and we're good.
