Anyway enough about that bimbo from the Capitol. Camble walks to the platform literally hands shaking... I feel bad for him I do…I always care, it’s just I don’t know Camble, I was just glad it wasn’t someone I love, like my younger brothers or my boyfriend Whytt. Camble stands there frozen with fear. Camble is a well-built young man, he is clearly seventeen and this was his last reaping, he was so close but yet so far.  He could be good looking if his hair was cut. Effie Trinket clawed out the girl’s name from the giant glass ball that contained the names. I start to sweat hoping I don’t get picked. She unfolds the slip of paper and slowly says “Johanna Mason!” It was silent. I look around for this Johanna Mason girl… until I realized she was me. I stood there in the crowd until a boy nudged me to step forward. So I did, I slowly walk to the stage refusing to cry, I can’t let them know I’m scared. I’m almost at the steps when I turn to see Whytt, he looks me straight in the eye, and he refuses to drop my gaze. I almost come to a halt not wanting to look away from him, but as I plant my foot firmly on the ground; unable to move, he lifts his hands to his face and starts to cry? Well that’s just not right Whytt doesn’t cry ever! I stare at him, I feel the heat of everyone’s gaze on me, the whole country’s eyes locked on me, yet I refuse to look away from him. He is still crying, but it’s far to exaggerated to be real. That’s it! He’s helping me! I take the clue and start to fake cry as hard as I can, I continue to the stage. Whytt is no fool; he knows I would never cry in front of anyone but my loved ones, let alone the whole of Panem! It’s scary to see that he knows so much about strategies, such as playing the weak one, but he does, I just don’t want to know why, or how. I’ve been crying for so long my eyes hurt. The ceremony was the longest it has ever been. Effie, has led me into the Justice Building where I sit in a room so fancy it’s ridiculous. Since we are in District 7 the lumber district it is no surprise that almost everything in this room is made out of the finest wood in all of Panem; Mahogany.   We have never been a rich district, but not necessarily a poor one, nothing like poor old 12 and 11. In District 7 we believe wood and paper should never go to waste, so we recycle probably more than we need to here, I find that ridiculous since we have so much forest just lining our district. We also have our traditions, they’re not much but they’re something, like once you have reached the age of seven your father teaches you how to swing an axe, and on your very first reaping day as a present you get your own axe. I’ve had my axe for almost three going on four years now, my youngest brother Sean will learn how to swing one next year, and the middle child Andre got his own this year. I hope I get to see them both cut down their first tree. The Crumbine Award, sponsored by the Conference for Food Protection, is a prestigious international award given annually to local environmental health jurisdictions that demonstrate excellence and continual improvement in a comprehensive food protection program. The purpose of the award is to encourage improvement and stimulate public interest in food service sanitation. The award is named in honor of Dr. Samuel J. Crumbine (1862 – 1954, and an 1888 graduate of the Cincinnati College of Medicine and Surgery), a sanitarian-physician and public health pioneer who was renowned for his innovative methods of improving public health protection. Since 1955, the Award has been presented annually to one local governmental health agency that has demonstrated unsurpassed achievement in providing outstanding food protection services to its community. “This is the preeminent award in food protection, so naturally we’re thrilled,” says Hamilton County Health Commissioner Tim Ingram. “We have worked extremely hard to develop a program that not only protects the citizens of Hamilton County, but also works closely with our partners in the food service industry with an emphasis on education over enforcement. The award is particularly exciting in that this is the 50th anniversary of the last time Hamilton County Public Health received the award,” Ingram adds. Criteria for an award-winning program include: • Sustained excellence as documented by specific outcomes and achievements and evidenced by continual improvements in the components of a comprehensive program; • Demonstrated improvements in planning, managing and evaluating a comprehensive program; • Innovative and effective use of program methods and problem solving to identify and reduce risk factors that are known to cause foodborne illness; and • Providing targeted outreach, forming partnerships and participating in forums that foster communication and information exchange among regulators, industry and consumer representatives. “We have implemented several innovative programs over the years, such as our Clean Kitchen Award that recognizes our partners who really grasp the concept of food safety in their facilities,” Ingram continues. “We also provide our inspection reports for the public on our Website. These two program components have become very popular with our facilities and the public.
