Throughout many years the Government in North Korea have used several methods of enforcement such as fear, censorship, and isolation. Both regimens believe and virtually worship their leader. In Airstrip One, The leader is Big Brother versus North Korea’s Kim Jong un. Rebellious talk, potentially being a threat to the party and being “socially unacceptable are just a few examples of things that can get you killed or locked up. North Korea  North Korea is consists every element of totalitarianism but the main three are modern technology, enforcement, state control of society, dynamic leader. North korea remains isolated form the world citizens to be unaffected by other cultures and norms. I once lent one a set of DVDs of Desperate Housewives and met the same person the next day. They had sat up all night and watched the entire series in one sitting. In Oceania, nothing was on tv except for broadcasts frelating to Big Brother or the news. The police can almost anything considering human rights in Korea is to a bare minimum The government periodically publicly executes citizens for stealing state property, hoarding food, and other “anti-socialist” crimes.. This is similar to the rules in Oceania, nothing is illegal therefore everything can be deemed as illegal.  This inflicts fear on the people causing them to obey and never criticize their leader. Propaganda billboards spread across the country in north Korea claiming the U.S  is evil and should be terminated. The military is very strong and contains nuclear technology; the technology has caused a lot of tension in the world still does.   In north Korea you must be loyal to the leader and do what is best for the country. Because children are corrupted so early, they are brainwashed to serve their country no matter what. “Nearly all children nowadays were horrible. What was worst of all was that by means of such organizations as the spies they were systematically turned into ungovernable little savages, yet produced in them no tendancy whatever to rebel against the discipline of the party” (Orwell 26).  There was a case in jail where a male informed the authorities that a woman and girl were trying to escape. Not only was it bad that he told on a female, turns out it was his mother and sister. The dynamic leader in North Korea is treated like a god and certainly acts like it. Kim Jong Il spent on average $750,000 on alcohol despite the fact that the average income is $500-$1000. This example is comparable to the distribution of wealth throughout the parties in 1984. The proles have next to nothing, The outer party recieves “victory” spoils and the inner party are treated with luxury wines, foods etc.People were crying in the streets after the announcement of Kim Jong Il’s death, demonstrating how corrupted their society is. A similar occasion in 1984 is when the lady is almost praying at the telescreen. ‘“My Saviour!” she extended her arms towards the screen. Then she buried her face in her hands. It was apparent that she was uttering a prayer” (Orwell 18).    In conclusion North Korea mirrors Geoarge Orwells Oceania due to the very similar elements of totalitarianism. Both regimens contain Modern technology, dynamic leader, police terror, methods of enfrocement, social control over society, control over individuals.
