Audra McDonald, Sutton Foster, Lea Salonga, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Christine Ebersole, Rebecca Luker Set for Broadway on the High Seas 4

By Playbill Staff
22 May 2013

Playbill has announced the all-star roster for its fourth annual Broadway on the High Seas cruise, which will visit Tahiti, Bora Bora, Moorea and the surrounding French Polynesian Islands March 20-29, 2014.

This South Pacific adventure will mark Playbill's first privately chartered ship aboard the five-star luxury liner m/s Paul Gauguin.

The fourth edition of Playbill's popular cruise series will boast the talents of five-time Tony winner Audra McDonald, Tony winners Brian Stokes Mitchell and Lea Salonga, two-time Tony winners Sutton Foster and Christine Ebersole, and Tony nominees Rebecca Luker, Will Swenson and Danny Burstein. Playbill columnist Seth Rudetsky will return for his fourth year as music director, performer and host.

Broadway on the High Seas 4 will be an intimate affair, catering to a limited amount of passengers — 150 cabins only — and will include a two-day stay in Tahiti with a seven-day cruise to the surrounding islands. Judy Perl and the stellar staff of Judy Perl Cruises will once again coordinate all travel arrangements.

To reserve a spot on BOHS4, call (866) 572-7847 or email playbill@judyperlcruises.com. Packages include round-trip air from Los Angeles, gratuities, open bar, complimentary water sports, hotel packages and an entertainment itinerary jam-packed with concerts, interviews, Broadway trivia, cocktail parties and late-night gatherings with our stars and more.

Playbill launched its popular Broadway on the High Seas cruise series — combining the finest in specialized, luxury cruising with the best of Broadway entertainment — in 2011 and has since catered to hundreds of theatre-lovers with a thirst for travel. Its next trip, Broadway on the High Seas 3 — a Baltic adventure from Stockholm to Copenhagen — sets sail August 2013 featuring Patti LuPone, Norm Lewis, Howard McGillin and Seth Rudetsky. Past performers have included Andrea Martin, Lewis Black, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Christine Ebersole, Marin Mazzie, Jason Danieley, Sherie Rene Scott and Debra Monk.

The great thing about Broadway is that you can see a big budget razzle-dazzle musical one night and an intimate two-hander the next. So I'm doing exactly that.

Talley's Folley is the second Roundabout production that I've seen in less than a week. With apologies to The Big Knife, it is the vastly-superior production, despite its more-modest budget.

This delicate love story is an utter joy to watch unfolding. Little wonder that Lanford Wilson won a Pulitzer Prize for it. Danny Burstein is a marvel, and Sarah Paulson is achingly lovely.

Simply outstanding. I'll carry this one in my heart for a long time.

Cast: Patrick Riester, Myles Paige, James Curry, Robin Schwartz, Gerald Peary, Wiley Wiggins.

Escape from Tomorrow / U.S.A. I Used to Be Darker / U.S.A. It Felt Like Love / U.S.A. Cast: Gina Piersanti, Giovanna Salimeni, Ronen Rubinstein, Jesse Cordasco, Nick Rosen, Case Prime.

Milkshake / U.S.A. (Director: David Andalman, Screenwriters: David Andalman, Mariko Munro) — In mid-1990's America, we follow the tragic sex life of Jolie Jolson, a wannabe thug (and great-great-grandson of legendary vaudevillian Al Jolson) in suburban DC as he strives to become something he can never be – black. Cast: Tyler Ross, Shareeka Epps, Georgia Ford, Eshan Bay, Leo Fitzpatrick, Danny Burstein.

Newlyweeds / U.S.A. (Director and screenwriter: Shaka King) — A Brooklyn repo man and his globetrotting girlfriend forge an unlikely romance. But what should be a match made in stoner heaven turns into a love triangle gone awry in this dark coming-of-age comedy about dependency. Cast: Amari Cheatom, Trae Harris, Tone Tank, Colman Domingo, Isiah Whitlock Jr., Adrian Martinez.

Pit Stop / U.S.A. (Director: Yen Tan, Screenwriters: Yen Tan, David Lowery) — Two working-class gay men in a small Texas town and a love that isn't quite out of reach. Cast: Bill Heck, Marcus DeAnda, Amy Seimetz, John Merriman, Alfredo Maduro, Corby Sullivan.

Starting over at age 58, he struggles to adapt until an unlikely friendship with an ex-con blossoms, helping him confront the problems he left behind. Cast: Paul Eenhoorn, Richmond Arquette, Sam Buchanan, Robert Longstreet, Demetrius Grosse.
