In response to a YouTube video by TheSuperCarlinBrothers, I have decided to rank my favorite Pixar movies in order. Note that I really love all of these movies, but some fell short in certain areas that I wish they could have improved upon greatly. Also, this is my opinion; please don't get offended if it is not the same as your rankings!
1. WALL-E
2. The Incredibles
3. Ratatouille
4. Finding Dory
5. Brave
6. Finding Nemo
7. Toy Story 2
8. Toy Story
9. Monsters, Inc.
10. Inside Out
11. A Bugs Life
12. Monsters University
13. Up
14. Cars
15. Toy Story 3
16. Cars 2
17. The Good Dinosaur
I guess it was a little harder to place these movies on a ranking than I thought, but some I was pretty sure about as apposed to some of the top spot movies. It also made me realize that certain movies such as Planes, Planes: Fire & Rescue, Wreck It Ralph, etc. were not Pixar films! Huge surprise for me! I guess I can go into why I enjoyed certain movies over others.... WALL-E was such a stunning movie that used great visuals, powerful words (when used), and built a wonderful array of characters that I enjoy watching every time! The Incredibles was such a unique Pixar entry due to its theme, comic relief, and unique characters. It also presented the material in a new way rather than using origin stories for the supers. Ratatouille is such an enjoyable movie for its comedy and powerful characters than I am sure many people can relate to. Finding Dory may be one of the newest releases, but it was one of the best in my opinion! I enjoyed the raw emotion, the backstories, and comedy. I did cry during this film; baby Dory is the cutest animated character I have ever seen! Brave was a spectacular story that used traditional Scottish culture to illustrate a beautiful legend. Being part Scottish, I felt some part of me in this film. And, even though I am not a girl, I can connect with Merida because she has an overbearing mother that only wants the best for her. Finding Nemo was such an inspirational movie; the visuals were stunning; the storyline was unique; and, the characters were all so well brought to life that this movie has to be among the best Pixar has to offer! Now, the Toy Story franchise is one of my personal favorites, but some people may disagree with my placement of the films on this list. I will agree that 2 was much better than 1 through its better graphics, character development, and emotional connections. I did like 3, but I did not find it quite as entertaining as the first two. Some aspects just seemed a bit too out of proportion to what the movie was trying to get at, but I did love it nonetheless! The Monsters, Inc. franchise is another great one! I was so happy that they made a prequel, which answered so many questions we all had about Mike and Sully. However, the first film has stunning visuals and leaps in the animation industry that are unparralled elsewhere; the second film was very good for many reasons but it did not have the same element of uniqueness that the first one did. I love them both, but the original is definitely better! Inside Out was such a unique concept that we all wondered about as kids. It had great character development, beautiful visuals, and the raw emotion that we all crave. It was not among the top of my list, but it was definitely a great movie! A Bug's Life was always a great movie for me as a kid, but I think that I have liked it less as time has gone on unlike others on this list. The graphics were still the best of their time, but it just doesn't match some of the other early works on Pixar's list. The characters were well done, but some seemed too stereotypical. It was a great concept, and it is so much better than Antz by DreamWorks for sure! Up was also a sensational movie that managed to make me cry in about three minutes! Never have I watched a movie that had such a detailed pre-story with such raw emotion and love. I did like the film, but some parts just seemed a little over the top. How did they magically land where they wanted to? It was just an odd movie in general, but it was still fun to watch and laugh at. I liked the Cars franchise, and, unlike many people out there, I loved both movies! I am really looking forward to the third installment! However, some aspects of these movies were not as impressive as the other animated feats accomplished by other Pixar films. I do agree that 1 is better than 2, but I love them both! I know some people dislike the stereotypical natures of some of the characters, but I like how each has their own personalities that reflect the type of car they are (i.e. Mater!). Now, the only movie I was definitely sure of where to put it on the list was The Good Dinosaur. This movie was a huge letdown for me considering all that Pixar has accomplished. I love the visual effects of the movie, which are leaps and bounds above the competition however, the plot and characters were not well done whatsoever. It was just a very mismatched plot with weak characters. It also seemed like the dinosaurs were WAY too cartoonized unlike Disney's Dinosaur movie, which has some of the best looking dinosaurs in animation! And, that about does it! Thanks for listening to my little list! Oh, and here's the video from the guys' channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oh2CFfbgozA
