Kuka'emoku, Iao Needle, is set in the center of Iao Valley on the island of Maui, Hawai'i. It has many meanings and one such meaning is that it is a phallic representation of the Polynesian god, Kanaloa(God of the underworld depicted as a squid/octopus). Sailers often call upon Kanaloa for safe voyage.
