I'm indefinitely disappearing
Into my hideaway cave, like I never crawled out
So there's no need to worry about running anymore, kid.

"I'll be gentle & I'll take it slowly
Just as long as you say you don't need me
I'll do you right & I'll take it steady
But when I say go you better be ready

Keep you guessing, I swear I won't tell you
Make you want me & then I'll desert you
But it's alright 'cause you said you don't need me
It's alright 'cause I kept it steady

Don't look at me like that, like you'll kill me
I can outrun you & I'll do it gracefully
'Cause I'm gentle but I can't move slowly
Don't you dare say you do not know me."

The path down to Sharrow Beach has been closed indefinitely due to the cliff becoming unstable. A real shame as I have one or two ‘favourite’ rocks down there. The only compensation is that the sand should now remain pristine.
Sharrow beach is a central part of Whitsand Bay that stretches from Polhawn Cove in the south east, westwards to Finnygook Beach at Portwrinkle, a distance of 7.2kms. It has
Freathy Beach to the east, the other side of Sharrow Point, and Tregantle Beach west of Crowstone Cliffs. A sandy beach at low water, the area of beach next to the access point is also
known as Grotto Beach after a small cave excavated by hand in 1874 by a hermit called ‘Lugger’. It is a National Trust property.

The ‘fingers’ of rocky outcrops divide the sandy beach into smaller cove-like sections, many of which have little or no dry sand at high water which can make access off the beach on incoming tides an issue. At very low water it is possible to walk around Sharrow Point to Freathy and westwards to Tregantle Beach and Long Sands.

Lightning taken with a Canon Powershot SD1100 - my old pocket point and shoot, which was my only camera for years including my year in Europe. This little camera works amazingly well for lightning by using the chdk motion detect script. It has also produced my best snowflake macros (with a little magnetic macro converter attached). Even though I've switched to carrying the Sony Nex and iPhone around the city for landscapes etc, this little pocket powershot is still an amazingly good camera and I expect to keep using it indefinitely for lightning, macros, and other projects involving the Chdk. This is also really the camera on which I began to learn to be a photographer - once I felt like I had really pushed it to its limits, I finally bought a bigger one with more capabilities.

(AKA Canon Ixus 80 in Europe I think)

Krona was once Okoto's most prominent historian. When Makuta began to show signs of treachery, Ekimu commissioned Krona to act as the guardian of the Temple of Time. She was given the Mask of Time Flow, a weaker version of the Mask of Time, and now wields the temple's most sacred relic, the Chakram Timepiece, a weaponized clock. Krona can control the flow of time, but doing so gradually exhausts her. When she uses her powers, only she is aware of the alteration in time flow. This allows her to appear to teleport by stopping time, undo her mistakes by reversing time, and predict attacks by slowing time. While she can reverse time, she cannot do so indefinitely without fainting from fatigue. She is allied with the Toa and works to reawaken Ekimu. She can use her weapon as throwing blade or as a shield.
Element: Time
Mask: Mask of Time Flow
Abilities: Agility, flexibility
Weapon: Chakram Timepiece
Powers: Stopping time, reversing time, speeding and slowing the flow of time, telekinetic manipulation of her weapon

Going home from the Palisades Parkway, I noticed a bright red object peeking through the woods. It caught my eye indefinitely and I soon realized it was the rising moon. The moon at this point was hovering just slightly above a building across the Hudson. It was such a perfect shot, but I had nowhere to stop. I drove for another 2 miles or so and found a scenic parking spot that overlooked the city of Bronx. By the time I got my gear ready and had a spot, the moon had re-positioned itself high above the sky. It still had a beautiful glow to it, so I decided to take a few shots regardless.

After three long months in the making its finally here. I honestly don't have much I care to say about it, so yeah.

I also can't give you a count of studs, but it was just slightly over 4 feet long, so you can do the calculations yourself.

...and also, finally crossing off building a SHIP from my lego bucket list. My first and most likely my last. (any more 100+ ships I can assure you will be completely unintentional)

Most importantly, I owe a huge thank you to all the people who encouraged me to actually follow through and finish this build and gave me support along the way, and especially to all my bros for building a sick nasty display to feature it on, without which I probably would have procrastinated indefinitely. most of all too Evan (Lego Junkie) for photographing it at Brickfair and helping edit these pics, because without him this wouldn't have gotten posted until much later in the month/year, if at all for that matter. So basically thanks guys! Much love!

The tree stands, in a broad sense, the relationship with the universal microcosm macrocosm and the connection of life indefinitely.
As this through the development of its density and reproduction represents the path until its death and regeneration, in the same way and the heavenly macroscopic assemblies of our universe show as we can understand, the course itself life to infinity.

I profili punteggiati di cipressi
lungo i margini delle colline,
i cambi improvvisi
che sembrano moltiplicarsi all’infinito,
sono espressione di un pensiero divino.
In quei momenti il sentimento è profondo,
puoi confonderti con il cielo
e perderti nel vento con la terra.
Allora il respiro è grande
e ti pare di toccare l’aria.

I encourage you to read this inspirational passage by Rob Bell,

"Lust does not operate on a flat line, as if we can give in and stay at the same level of consumption indefinitely. People who are not aware of what they're dealing with will keep insisting that they're fine and that they can stop at any time. But they're 'darkened in their understanding.' They're operating under the assumption that lust can plateau at a certain level and simply stay there. But lust always wants more.

Which is why lust, over time, will always lead to despair. Which will always lead to anger.

Lust always leads to anger."

Flickr Reflection Canyon

Reflection Canyon is a side canyon of Glen Canyon, now the controversial reservior Lake Powell, and its name can be seen on the USGS 7.5' topo map. Its beautiful curves and contrast between water and sandstone walls were first captured by National Geographic photographer Michael Melford in spring 2005, when the water level of Lake Powell hit its lowest since it had been filled in 1970s. It squeezed my curiosity again last October, when Melford's photo featured in the Retina display of Apple's newest generation of 13" Macbook Pro. I first thought this secret location can be only reached by boat -- there was a boat passing through the canyon in Melford's original work. Surprisingly, after simply googled the name, I read a (not-so-successful) trip report of hiking to the exact spot by German photographer/hiker Rainer Grosskopf. He was able to got there after negotiated a strenuous 8-mile (then doubled to make roundtrip) hike on rough terrain without any trail or mark, but the water level was significantly higher than that of 2005, making it more like a large pond instead of curving waterway. The water level is much lower now, but it is still 50' higher than Melford's luck, making me not couragous enough to take the risk with my limited travel opportunity, so the plan was put aside indefinitely until a couple of weeks ago, when I saw Chen Su from Kansas, posted a photo of Reflection Canyon with decent water level, on the social network website Renren. He followed the GPS waypoints shared by Grosskopf and told me it was indeed a tough adventure. Although I was pretty confident in finding route and hiking long distance in the southwest desert environment, still I thought going alone would be too risky. I grabbed Kai Song (Bro Bing) as the partner, together with two of his friends we formed a group of four and tackled the route on a sunny spring day. We were definitely stunned when we overcame the last obstacle and the surreal view filled our eyes. The resulting snapshot was not as perfect as Melford's -- the water level was still about 40' higher than the lowest thus the rock fins connecting the walls and buttes were still under water -- I still feel content and proud for seeing it with my own eyes after such an unforgettable adventure.

Everyday in every way I'm falling
Everything that everyone says turns me on/off
Shine a light on me
So that everyone can see
That I wanna stay here indefinitely
Time exists but just on your wrist so don't panic
Moments last and lifetimes are lost in a day
So wind your watches down please
'Cos there is no time to lose
And I'm gonna stay here indefinitely
And I wanna stay here so just let me be
Now I can see the light circling round your reflection...
And I'm gonna stay here indefinitely
And I'm gonna stay here so just let me be
Indefinitely, indefinitely, indefinitely

Flickr A sea of peace, rest your weariness ~

The sun sets, slowly, igniting the sky in fiery shades of red and orange. In the distance, dark clouds rolled over the horizon, riding the autumn winds. Soon they would give way to night. And with it would come the silence that washes over everything... ( Shadows in the Sun)

Flickr Boredom - Indefinitely WIP

(It looks best in lightbox)
The result of three different sessions of boredom, messing around in PMG.
Posting it here as a WIP because it may never really see the light of day otherwise.
Which brings me to that.
This is a level of detail far beyond what I normally do. Now I would LOVE to finish this thing, make a full rifle of this style... but this isn't something I've done before, or really know how to do. Hence why it only really gets worked on when I'm bored, and willing just to mess around and try things.
So for now, don't be expecting to see more from this anytime soon. That is... unless...
The other thing I wanted to mention.
I'm possibly considering using this as the start of a Collab. Maybe. Let me know if you are interested. I'll let you know then if I'm interested in doing this as a collab.
Also, since there is not guarantee I may ever finish this, I can probably be persuaded to part with the codes, if you think they're worth having.

So idk, let me know what you think, of this, and what you think I should do.

Also, credit to Matt 0.6 for the chrome.

Flickr Edge of the Blade (Sunset over the High Sierra)

Ah, the story of how I dragged my 50-pound pack almost to the summit of this 13,800 peak and set up camp only to find myself coming down with severe altitude sickness at age 20...

I'll leave most of the gory details to your imagination, but let's just say that one night of acclimation for a near-fourteener campsite ain't enough. For those of you who recognize this peak and have done its class 2 route up the west slope, the chute used was filled with steep snow, and without an ice axe, I had to take a totally different class 3 route to the summit ridge. I’d already climbed 4500 feet that day with my heavy pack and I was about to fall over dead every 10 steps. Feeling the severe lightheadedness coming on and beginning to have lots of trouble breathing around 12,500 feet, I’d stuff my face with salty snacks and power through a large bottle of water every 10 minutes.

Stupid as I was, I pushed on. I knew there was a great little bivy site another thousand feet above, about 200 feet below the summit – that site had been my goal for years and I wasn’t about to give it up. I had visions of waking up to awe-inspiring sunrise alpenglow the next morning, and my body wasn’t about to stop me.

After five hours of stop-and-go hiking and class 3 climbing, feeling like I couldn’t take another step if my life depended on it, I had reached the summit ridge and my jaw fell at this view on the other side. The evening light was beginning to strike the peaks, and while it was clear I’d have to wait for sunrise to have the best alpenglow, I knew I’d get something at sunset. I sat down for half an hour to recover, somehow finding mustering up enough energy to fumble around with my tent and sleeping bag to set everything up in my bivy spot, 200 feet below the summit.

The sunset light grew quite nice – in fact, it was gorgeous. I wasn’t expecting such a brilliant show. Frankly, I was too shitfaced to appreciate it, but I took hundreds of pictures, as I began to wonder if it would be the last thing I ever did. Memories of some of the happy moments of my life began to play back in my head. I wasn’t hungry for dinner, but I cooked some food and forced myself to eat it. I nearly threw it right back up. Now dark outside, I lay in my sleeping bag for five minutes, ten minutes, an hour…and I only felt worse. If you haven’t experienced this, a good analogy is to take a tiny coffee stirring straw and try to breathe through it…and imagine sustaining that indefinitely. Around 10PM, I reluctantly accepted that if I stayed where I was, I was not going to make it through the night alive. I had no choice but to attempt to find my way down the mountain in total darkness.

Thanks to a near-photographic memory, I managed to follow my route down in the dead of the night, arriving back at the trail at 12,000 feet just after 1AM, feeling a little better but still trashed. I pondered heading back to my car and driving back down the hill, but I realized that I wouldn’t be back till sunrise anyway, so I headed down to 11,300 feet on the other side of the pass and set up camp at 2AM. Having been 200 feet from the summit, I never quite reached it. And I never saw my sunrise. Needless to say, though, that was the very last thing I cared about right then. I was alive. That’s what mattered.

I felt a bit better the next morning, enough to leave my pack at my campsite and hike around for 10 miles…by the third day, I was mostly fine. The snowstorm that came in on the third day is a story of its own.

Man, I love the backcountry life. I wouldn’t give it up for anything.

Let me know what you think!

Sarzeau is a town in the Morbihan department of Brittany, on the Rhuys peninsula that forms the southern edge of the Morbihan Gulf (to the south of Vannes).

The town has its origins in the 14th century, when a hospital was built here and when the dense forests of the region (now gone) were a popular hunting ground for the Dukes of Brittany.

If you head south from SARZEAU to the coast at ROHALIGUEN, you will discover an extensive sandy beach that extends for several kilometres.

Flickr don't close your eyes to the modern day pirates ~ cancers gray market thieves
Tags: bej   abigfave   anawesomeshot
Welcome to the new real world of cancer ~ the world of modern day pirates and sheer greed. In this world, the victims are cancer patients and its happening in every country around the world. Its a world where life saving cancer drugs are being horded by unscrupulous second market suppliers, called the gray market, and they are creating shortages in the regular marketplace in order to profit. In fact, the profits are so high they are grotesque. These unscrupulous dealers are holding hospitals and clinics hostage, marking up the critical medications needed as high as 4000 times their normal cost.

But it doesn't stop there. NHS patients in the UK are being put at risk because profiteering pharmacists are selling prescription drugs to Europe. As many as one in ten pharmacists, as well as wholesalers, dispensing doctors and even NHS hospitals are making money in an export trade worth an estimated £360million a year. Government guidance condemns it as unethical, but there is nothing ministers can do as it is entirely legal for drugs to be traded in this way within the EU.

Health Canada announced in August that more than a dozen drugs imported by several different companies may be indefinitely in short supply. This has resulted in forcing Canadian patients to take substitutes that could lead to more side effects or be less effective, according to experts. Some experts are particularly concerned by the new shortages because they involve a number of cancer drugs that can’t easily be replaced with other treatments.

In America, CBS News investigative correspondent Armen Keteyian reports a record drug shortage has opened the door for gray market companies that expoit the short supply. They buy up drugs for everything from cancer to infections, stockpile them, then sell them to hospitals at massive markups.

Theft and diversion of drugs to the gray market often starts in the factories manufacturing drugs. Not all pharmaceutical companies make their own drugs, but outsource to factories where inadequate or even absent quality assurance checks result in the dispatching of a substandard or even counterfeit product. To make matters worse, the production of counterfeit drugs are often manufactured by small, backyard, cottage industries. For example, in China, the government closed 1,300 illegal factories and prosecuted cases involving counterfeit drugs worth more than $57 million in 2002.

Once drugs are transported to distribution centers or warehouses for final distribution to clinics and hospitals, the most common security breach involves what is called supplanting. This is where a pallet, or shipment crate, of drugs, or even whole shipping containers containing thousands of individual packets of drugs, are stolen and replaced by a fake or substandard product, and the stolen drugs are diverted into private sector markets.

The problem is that the grey market is working legally under the current drug distribution laws of all countries which mainly are a result of globalization, outsourcing and open access. For the past two years the problem is getting much worse and making many pirates rich. Just ask the hospitals around the globe who are solicited daily to purchase the much needed cancer drugs they cannot get from their regular suppliers at anywhere from 600% to 4000% markup!

Currently, the governments of all the countries are racking their brains trying to figure out how to resolve this critical situation and keep their ever rising medical costs down.

Hello? I am not a politician or law maker, but shut these idiots down and make the gray market illegal. Make it illegal for pharmacists to sell drugs to anyone but their patients and make the penalty swift. Make the very profitable big pharma industry adhere to a strict supply policy and hold them criminally liable if don't. And finally, set a limited fair market markup on these critical life saving drugs.

After all, the last time I looked, according to the rules of the Geneva Conventions, the taking of hostages is a forbidden act.

Flickr Such Elegance And Beauty, But Not Even CLose To What I Really Saw

I was way behind my husband and daughter, as I was so captivated by
the beauty of these roses. They were so delicate and whispy. An
elegant surprise for me, in this lovely rose garden. The coolness of
the air in this part of the garden was refreshing too, and so, my wish
to stay here and keep trying for a more wonderful shot, was well
understood. But, eventually, I had to let go of my desire to stay
here indefinitely and carry on, to find my family. May you find times
of refreshment in this coming year, and may they linger in your heart,
mind, and soul. God refresh you with His loveliness and coolness of
His Living water.

Flickr CE QUE NOUS SAVONS.......What we know

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What we know
We are the earth by plants and animals that give us our food.

We are the rains and the oceans that flow through our veins.

We are the breath of the forests and plants of the sea

We are animals, humans, connected to all life, descendants of the primordial cell.

We share the history of this family living in our genes.

We share this, which undermines the uncertainty. We share the future, yet to be invented.

We are one species among the thirty million who weave the thin veil of life enveloping the planet.

The stability of living communities depends on this diversity.

We are the links of this chain, eating, cleansing, sharing

and reiterating the basics of life.

Our home, planet Earth, can provide infinite resources, all life shares

the riches of the earth and the sun's energy and can not grow indefinitely.

For the first time we have reached the limits of growth.

When we compromise the air, water, soil and the diversity of life,

we fly to infinity in the future to meet an ephemeral present.

Most jellyfish die after reproducing, but this "immortal jellyfish" reverts to its younger self and scientists believe it can repeat the cycle indefinitely.

Originally found in the Caribbean, immortal jellyfish are multiplying rapidly and swarming around the world. It’s great news for geneticists studying aging, but not so good from an ecological point of view.

If a jellyfish can live forever, why shouldn’t we?

This is one of the reasons why I bought the fisheye. When I took the original "EPICOT" shot last year, I was disappointed by two things: 1) the Food and Wine display in the flower bed and, 2) 11mm being the widest focal length at my disposal. While I could have acquired a 10mm ultra-wide angle lens, I thought getting a fish-eye would be more pragmatic. Normally, once I latch onto an idea, I don't let it go. However, I thought the fish-eye wasn't as practical as other lenses that I "needed," so I decided to aim for the 70-200mm f/2.8 instead. As time passed, the number of "fish-eye necessary" shots on my shot list continued to grow, until I had around 10 (that I considered to be) very good ideas. At that time, I sought a fish-eye in earnest and acquired the Tokina.

Despite having it for our honeymoon, I never expected to get this shot. I was hopeful, but it takes too long to set-up, and at that time of night (technically, morning) it seems like the monorails run once every 20 minutes. Yet, at our first night at EPCOT, as we approached the front of the park, I saw the monorail approaching in the distance. I didn't hold out much hope that I could get to the flower bed before it arrived, but I tried anyway, running with my tripod fully extended as I attempted to dial in the appropriate camera settings with one eye on the camera and the other on my path (brilliant and safe, I know). Shockingly, I arrived in time, but the tripod was too high. Rather than adjust it, I balanced the camera on the plaque in front of the flower bed and fired--success. Then I realized that this plan wasn't fool-proof, as I couldn't hold the camera there steady for 10" or so. I resolved defeat, knowing that I wouldn't get the shot since it'd likely be 20 minutes before the next monorail passed and being the last guests, we probably needed to make our way to the International Gateway prior to then.

Roughly 5 minutes later (or so it felt), as I set up for shots of Sarah and me with her camera and tripod, the Tronorail approached. This would be a theme of the trip: the Tronorail, a nemesis of mine, showing up in every great monorail shot opportunity. While the dreaded beast always showed up quickly, it was almost as if the Serpentine of the Sky was mocking me: "Pick your poison, Tom; take a picture of me without having to wait, or wait indefinitely for one of the 'pretty' monorails." As you can see, the Tronorail claimed victory here by snaking its way into the shot, but I think I still got the last laugh...

The building on the right used to be a Barber shop many many moons ago (close to 30 yrs). Now peeking thru the windows, it is used as a storage. I don't think it's been visited in a very long time. Tons of spider webs everywhere.

I've spent most of my life naively thinking that life could be fair. I now truly realize....it's not.

Infatuation is a flash that has an expiration date. The high emotional charge makes it necessary, nothing with such intensity can be maintained indefinitely. But without it,
there can´t be what comes next: attachment, the need to link, the fear of loss, the pleasure of sharing, security, confidence... Perhaps no question of falling in love, but is
when TRUE LOVE really starts.

Shine a light on me
So that everyone can see
That I wanna stay here indefinitely
Time exists but just on your wrist so dont panic
Moments last and lifetimes are lost in a day
So wind your watches down please
'Cause there is no time to lose
And Im gonna stay here indefinitely

"The natural obduracy of Varanasi refuses to submit to the humiliation of decay.
She refuses to desintegrate like other cities of prehistory.
She rejuvenates her virginity with each rape.
Wrecks, under which a lesser would long have been buried, have actually been lifted by her into monuments of glory and added faith.
Each wound inflicted on her body has smarted her to attain a heftier recovery and made her gain and added vigour.
Recessions replenish her; deluges fertilise her; death reincarnates her.
The breathtaking nobility of her fantastic river-side-beauty has inspired poets to string verses, artists to draw and paint, music makers to sing, and photographers to gawk and shoot."
("Varanasi rediscovered" by B. Bhattacharya)

This is a view of the central ghats of Varanasi (Benaras) shot from the boat of Anand on the Ganges while we were reaching Mana Mandira ghat.

Muleway tunnel connecting the 1st and 2nd levels of a long abandoned coal mine. 100 years ago these narrow winding passages (now covered in a bright orange 'mine muck') allowed mules to travel down to the various levels of the mine. The miners would descend via a large underground elevator but the skittish mules required these narrow passages. The idea of using mules as beasts of burden to haul material in mines in an interesting one and from what I've read it seems pretty isolated to the coal industry. Many abandoned coal mines in the Pennsylvania and West Virginia area had underground barns for the mules where they'd live for weeks at a time never seeing daylight. From what I've read the mules were actually treated fairly well and considered critical for moving coal carts in areas of the mine where it wasn't practical to build interior rail and electric or pneumatic hoists. The miners often formed bonds with the mules with some accounts of them sharing meals and even chewing tobacco. Today the muleway is the only link to the different levels of this large mine. I'm told there could be as many as 7-9 levels of this mine but we were only able to explore two fully due to potentially bad air. With the other levels indefinitely entombed forever - too deep and too far from the opening to allow oxygen to flow in.
