What if I really Liked You?
And then, You really liked me?

What if together we decided that, We would stay like this indefinitely?

What if there was no questions? We both told no lies?

What if we saw each other and there was no compromise

What would happen if we took our feelings and laid them out?

What if trust was not a factor, and we had no Doubt?

What beautiful things could happen, Beneath our Masks so stained

Knowing that only taking them off would have happiness more than gained

Who could have seen it coming? and why did they not say?

When was I so blinded by the world so scared and grey,

Would you walk with me, along this path, unknown?

When your sanity is on the line, but feelings are still shown?

Come with me, take my hand, It is scary but the time is here,

For love is the ultimate reward in this lifetime we both fear.

I'm indefinitely disappearing
Into my hideaway cave, like I never crawled out
So there's no need to worry about running anymore, kid.

"I'll be gentle & I'll take it slowly
Just as long as you say you don't need me
I'll do you right & I'll take it steady
But when I say go you better be ready

Keep you guessing, I swear I won't tell you
Make you want me & then I'll desert you
But it's alright 'cause you said you don't need me
It's alright 'cause I kept it steady

Don't look at me like that, like you'll kill me
I can outrun you & I'll do it gracefully
'Cause I'm gentle but I can't move slowly
Don't you dare say you do not know me."

The path down to Sharrow Beach has been closed indefinitely due to the cliff becoming unstable. A real shame as I have one or two ‘favourite’ rocks down there. The only compensation is that the sand should now remain pristine.
Sharrow beach is a central part of Whitsand Bay that stretches from Polhawn Cove in the south east, westwards to Finnygook Beach at Portwrinkle, a distance of 7.2kms. It has Freathy Beach to the east, the other side of Sharrow Point, and Tregantle Beach west of Crowstone Cliffs. A sandy beach at low water, the area of beach next to the access point is also known as Grotto Beach after a small cave excavated by hand in 1874 by a hermit called ‘Lugger’. It is a National Trust property.

The ‘fingers’ of rocky outcrops divide the sandy beach into smaller cove-like sections, many of which have little or no dry sand at high water which can make access off the beach on incoming tides an issue. At very low water it is possible to walk around Sharrow Point to Freathy and westwards to Tregantle Beach and Long Sands.

Lightning taken with a Canon Powershot SD1100 - my old pocket point and shoot, which was my only camera for years including my year in Europe. This little camera works amazingly well for lightning by using the chdk motion detect script. It has also produced my best snowflake macros (with a little magnetic macro converter attached). Even though I've switched to carrying the Sony Nex and iPhone around the city for landscapes etc, this little pocket powershot is still an amazingly good camera and I expect to keep using it indefinitely for lightning, macros, and other projects involving the Chdk. This is also really the camera on which I began to learn to be a photographer - once I felt like I had really pushed it to its limits, I finally bought a bigger one with more capabilities.

Krona was once Okoto's most prominent historian. When Makuta began to show signs of treachery, Ekimu commissioned Krona to act as the guardian of the Temple of Time. She was given the Mask of Time Flow, a weaker version of the Mask of Time, and now wields the temple's most sacred relic, the Chakram Timepiece, a weaponized clock. Krona can control the flow of time, but doing so gradually exhausts her. When she uses her powers, only she is aware of the alteration in time flow. This allows her to appear to teleport by stopping time, undo her mistakes by reversing time, and predict attacks by slowing time. While she can reverse time, she cannot do so indefinitely without fainting from fatigue. She is allied with the Toa and works to reawaken Ekimu. She can use her weapon as throwing blade or as a shield.
Element: Time
Mask: Mask of Time Flow
Abilities: Agility, flexibility
Weapon: Chakram Timepiece
Powers: Stopping time, reversing time, speeding and slowing the flow of time, telekinetic manipulation of her weapon

Going home from the Palisades Parkway, I noticed a bright red object peeking through the woods. It caught my eye indefinitely and I soon realized it was the rising moon. The moon at this point was hovering just slightly above a building across the Hudson. It was such a perfect shot, but I had nowhere to stop. I drove for another 2 miles or so and found a scenic parking spot that overlooked the city of Bronx. By the time I got my gear ready and had a spot, the moon had re-positioned itself high above the sky. It still had a beautiful glow to it, so I decided to take a few shots regardless.

Flickr The Clone Farce Part 2

Part one.

[[ATTENTION: THIS MANUSCRIPT WAS CENSORED BEFORE BEING PUBLISHED TO MASK PRIVATE INFORMATION AND MAKE THIS CONTENT ACCEPTABLE FOR ALL AUDIENCES]]

...I opened the file as Triss laughed her way through Hacim's journal entries. Text and numbers arranged themselves into neat rows on the screen, categorizing the numerous pieces of information in Justin and Hacim's transaction:

DATE: 3:29 pm Minsedion Standard Time, Cycle 3, Demi-Week 62, Earth Year 2014

TRANSACTION TYPE: Private Cloning Facility Usage Transaction

CLIENT: Justin M[CENSORED]

DNA SAMPLE: Provided by client

DNA SUBJECT: Lydia (Surname not found)

ORDER DIRECTIVE: Clone subject with default accuracy. Biosuspend outside of four-dimensional space and neurofeed to accelerate physical and mental growth to subject's age before reentering into the time stream.

QUANTITY: 01. (≃9.2149×10^12 cells)

PAYMENT OWED: $37,500 (Standard single-use fee)
^NOTE: Client has yet to pay. MECHA-CHUCK NORRIS' will be assigned to extract payment

ORDER FULFILLED: 12:54 am Minsedion Standard Time, Cycle 2, Demi-Week 75, Earth Year 2014
^NOTE: I recommended naming her "Aidyl", an anagram of "Lydia". Justin adopted this name for her

POST-PROCEDURAL NOTES:
1.) During neurofeed sync initialization, neuron synapse patterns were identified as abnormal
2.) Contacted client, but they insisted that their order be fulfilled regardless of complications
3.) During the testing session, cloned subject showed no signs of mental instability and passed the standard and intensive psychological evaluations

EDIT: INITIAL SUSPICIONS WERE CORRECT. CLONED SUBJECT CAN SWITCH BETWEEN NUMEROUS DANGEROUS, CLEARLY UNBALANCED AND DECEPTIVELY BALANCED MENTAL STATES AT WILL

I closed the file and sat still for a few moments, digesting the information.

"Well, that only really served to confirm what we already knew," I concluded, "I suppose I could convince Lydia to sue Justin with me to get the money, but that could take months...and the doctor only gave Professor Unikitty how long, again?"

"The hospital sent us a notice saying that the procedure needed to be performed within three weeks," Triss replied mechanically, still chortling at Hacim's private love poems to Mtn. Dew, “Why are you even thinking about that? Just do a quick fix.”

Snapping my fingers and making money materialize out of thin air? I reviewed a few other options in my head: robbing a bank, blackmailing someone, selling my Lego collection, turning Triss into a gold platinum statue, going into real estate...
None of them seemed like they'd produce a very engaging story.

Later that evening, I went out onto the beach to ponder our conundrum. Walking alongside the thin line of the melting sunset, I let my thoughts wander. They gradually strayed off, no longer relevant to Unikitty's plight.

“...carry the seven and find the inverse factorial; apply the logarithm of thirty-nine and the answer is forty-tw-”

“HI AARON!!!”

“AAAARRGGHH!!!”

I was about to solve a formula for all prime numbers when my train of thought was completely obliterated by a loud salutation from behind. I spun around to face a tentacled monstrosity. Saliva dripped from cragged mandibles, tentacles pulsated gently, strange liquid eyes gaped at me from folds of pliable flesh. The thing had some distinctly Cthulhuian tattoos, too.

“Oh...good afternoon, Squid Man,” I acknowledged him politely, “How are you doing?”

“I'M FINE! I WAS JUST STOPPING BY TO TELL YOU WHERE AIDYL IS! LEGOFIN SAID YOU WERE LOOKING FOR HER!” he replied.

I gaped. The Dimensional Police were bound to look into the issue after I brought it to their attention, but in all honesty I had completely forgotten about their involvement. It was a total surprise.

“IN THAT DEPRESSING CYBERPUNK DIMENSION WITH ALL THE TRENCHCOATS AND DEGENERATE INDIVIDUALS AND SIMON LIU AND STUFF!”

“W-what?” I finally managed to stutter.

“SHE'S BASED SOMEWHERE IN THE LOWER WEST DISTRICT OF NEO-NEW YORK! I DON'T KNOW THE EXACT ADDRESS, BUT YOU CAN ASK AROUND! I GOTTA GO, BYE!”

“Wait, stop! Tell me more!” I cried after him, but he had already sloodulated back into the water. The sun was nothing more than a puddle on the ocean now, and I watched it drain over the horizon.
As unexpected as it was, accepting this guidance felt like a step in the right direction; it was a catalyst for action. I could already envision a gripping infiltration and heist performed under the nose of a most insidious enemy to retake the means of saving Professor Unikitty from deadly horn fungus.

I arrived back at the castle and told Triss about my peculiar encounter. She was delighted by Squid's sudden appearance and quick dispersal of information, claiming that it was due to “budget cuts on the Fourth Wall,” which I found insulting as I don't have a budget to operate on in the first place!

“Wait a minute,” Triss said, “Why does this matter? Weren't you going to just take care of it magically?”

“That option wouldn't really be interesting. I mean, it would definitely save me a lot of typing I guess, but-”

“The whole point is to just save Unikitty! This is a joke, right?”

“No? The only joke back there was me saying that it would save a lot of typing.”

Triss was exasperated.

“Look, as long as we save Unikitty I don't really care; I'll help. But this is a major waste of time.”

“Great! Let's go tomorrow morning.”

That night we prepared some disguises and other potentially useful supplies. I also contacted Dead Frog inc, asking him to help us scout discreetly. He agreed, apparently under the misconception that the other girls were all still here. I remotely teleported him to Gazzandlor shortly after. What followed was an embarrassing sequence that really can't be effectively censored in any other way than total omission.

Triss was still angry as we warped into Neo-New York an hour later. After the incident, she had chased Frog around the castle with a shovel as I pondered whether we really needed his help. No sooner had I grudgingly come to the conclusion that we did when, out of breath and now in amphibian form, Frog dragged himself into my sight, begging me to hide him. As I slipped him into one of my utility pockets, I told him not to move around.

“You might set off one of the grenades.”

“THESE THINGS ARE GRENADES?!”

“Shh, Triss is coming back,” I whispered, “She'll hear y-”

I cut off my sentence as Triss walked up, but she must have heard me anyway. She hefted the shovel, and gave me a glare.

“I know,” I protested her unspoken disapproval, “But we don't have a choice, we need him...for the plot. It's worth it, right? Isn't it worth more that we struggle for Unikitty-I mean, no, what I mean is: what becomes of the story if all our needs are instantly gratified? The conflict becomes negated, and our existence is irrelevant. It's just...worth it to struggle for significance.”

“That's philosophically unsound,” she sniffed, “Significance by that standard is subjective and fleeting. You should concentrate on using the magic you've been given to serve and love other people. The most efficient way to do that would be to heal Unikitty directly. You absolutely could.” She went on, “Either way, your point is way too sophisticated a thematic concept for this garbage story,” She paused and suddenly took on a blank expression, “And so was...mine...?”

“GARBAGE?!” I was incensed, but time was running out. If we didn't act immediately we'd certainly lose our absolute last chance of saving Professor Unikitty from a gruesome fate.

“Come on, we need to go,” I sighed. I opened the portal to our destination and a few seconds later we were on our way.

I had placed our output portal in a deserted alleyway, as our mission would work best if left unadvertised. The only person who saw us was a drunken cyborg hobo who stumbled away muttering about “...squid people lurking around, and now teen space-time vandals...”

From the gloomy, damp space between a couple buildings, we looked out on a less gloomy, much more damp, rainy city street lit up with holographic signs and neon advertisements. A few trenchcoated individuals were walking swiftly up and down the sidewalks, heads down. Grey and darker grey was the dominant color scheme, lending the whole scene a muted, repressive feeling. Triss stepped out first, and I followed, glancing around for locational help.
It took quite some to search the gleaming sea of attention-grabbing ads before finding any street signs. Fortunately, we were already in the general area that Squid Man had stated Aidyl was hiding in, the West District.

I sent Triss to scout out the area, partially as a diversion so I could safely talk to Frog, partially because we were still pretty lost.
Grabbing him out of my pocket, I stuck a metal band around his stumpy frog neck and set him on a wall.

“I will be maintaining contact with you through that band. Do not remove it, please.”

“This is demeaning,” he hissed, “Can't you just use magic to find out where this stupid clone lives?”

“That,” I prepared to explain, “Would be too easy and would make for a boring story. In fact, one of us might need to die in order to make it excitin-”

Triss' exhortation played in my mind.

“What am I saying?!”

I snapped my fingers and imploded, reassembling in a considerably more run-down part of the Lower West District. Triss appeared a moment later, summoned along with the frog plushie, box of sewing needles, and “Guide to Voodoo” she had been holding.

“Argh! You made me shoplift!”

I rolled my eyes and sent the merchandise back.

“That didn't mean I didn't intend to buy those!”

“Come on, the Professor is counting on us! What was that stuff for, anyway?”

“Nothing...”

Meanwhile, Frog had been left behind; we didn't really need him to find Aidyl now and he was better off away from Triss. I had forgotten to impart this decision to him, however. All alone, he climbed up to the roof of a smaller building to escape the threat of trampling feet and suspicious eyes. It took only a hop to reach the roof of the next building, and a jump to reach the next, and next...

Back at our position in the Lower West District, we were surveying the area, taking in the rusty and degraded surroundings. Some questionable-looking ghettoborgs were lounging about in a nearby alley, but the other residents seemed respectable enough. Although there was no telling what secret double lives they led-!

“Man this place is edgy,” Triss whispered, “What businessman needs a military grade weaponized prosthetic?”

“I don't know, don't stare!”

At least nobody was paying us much attention. I double-checked our position. My spell should have placed us in very close proximity to our target; within a radius of a meter or two...
From overhead came a metallic clanking sound. Looking up, I realized that there was a balcony just over our heads. A dark figure moved about on top. I moved closer to the building's wall and motioned for Triss to do the same. How were we supposed to find our target under these conditions? Suddenly remembering our third team member, I pulled out a small metallic disc and prepared to contact Frog.

“Frog...come in, Frog...can you hear me?” I whispered into the sensitive device, “I'm going to transport you to our location so you can scout around a bit. Ready?”

“No need,” he replied, “I can see you; I'm on the roof. I hopped ove-”

“FROG,” Triss said quietly, teeth clenched, “When this is over I'm going to stuff you in a jar of formaldehyde and conduct a biology clas-”

Another voice carried over the speakers, raspy and low. It addressed Frog.

“h3y fr0G boy, u Se3ms k1nda l0Ne5ome...y0o w4Nt 5oM3 c0mp4nY?”

“Well I suppose all my recent attempts at romance HAVE been thwarted,” Frog mused.

“Stop listening to that pervert, you worthless amphibian!” Triss yelled into the disc.

Scuffling sounds over the mic told us that Frog's unsavory company was leaving.

“Aw man, that monkey was just trying to help me have a good tim-”

I calmly told Frog that if he would please move to our side of the building so he could check to see if the person looming over us on a balcony looked like Lydia, we would very much appreciate it. He obliged.

“Yup, it's her! Can't say the eyepatch is working but I have yet to meet someone who doesn't look sexy in a trenchcoat!”

“Has he seriously not heard of 4chan?” Triss muttered as I transported us all into the second-story building the balcony connected to. Suddenly, we were in a small but extremely opulent apartment. Lush purple carpeting, an expensive-looking cyber interface, and a few small but pricey-looking decorations were some of the main distractions. I hoped Aidyl hadn't already spent all the money. I glanced quickly toward the bounty hunter...her back was still toward us.
Looking around more thoroughly this time, I was relieved to see a few crates packed with money in one corner of the room. Triss started quietly inspecting them while I advanced toward Aidyl. Formulating a plan was difficult under the circumstances, and the best I could come up with involved arming myself with one of the various weapons stowed in yet another crate, yelling something random at her, and then throwing Frog at her face when she turned around. He would hang on for dear life and I could incapacitate her while she was blinded.

It was a bad plan, but it actually worked perfectly...up to a point.

“SIGN YOUR TUNA FISH UP FOR CLOCK-MAKERS 101!” I proclaimed grandly, hefting a very trendy trans-neon orange chainsaw.

Aidyl spun around, issuing a single “Wah-” as I flung Frog toward her at a speed of 56.492 miles per hour. He landed perfectly...in her mouth. Thinking quickly, she clapped a hand over her mouth, trapping him inside. With the other, she pulled out a double-barreled blaster pistol. One of the barrels swiveled toward me, the other toward Triss.

“Okay that's actually pretty cool, I did not know they made guns that did that,” I admitted.

“SAH-WUHN-DUH!” She articulated, sadistic glee in her eyes.

I was at a loss for words. How could my flawless plan have backfired so inelegantly? Triss was staring at me from her position by the crates.

“Aaron! Just use your wizard powers to get us out of this!”

“No! What kind of a writer am I if I have to use magic to solve everything because I can't think up good action sequences? I'll be forgotten and sink into oblivion!”

“BEH QUI-UHDT! PUHT DOHN YOH WUH-PUHNZ!”

“Fine...” I laid the chainsaw down and resigned myself to a life as a B-rated writer relegated to producing scripts for shows on the Disney Channel. But at that moment of despair, as I faced the total obliteration of all I thought was important, I finally understood Triss' point. Fond memories of Professor Unikitty whole and hale and hopes for her recovery swarmed my mind, and I realized that these were what was really important. I pinched my thumb and middle finger, preparing to end the standoff on a whim.

“BWLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

Aidyl's mouth opened reflexively. A very sick-looking Frog plopped out, followed immediately by a cascade of gastric juices. I gaped for a moment before reacting.

“Are you okay, Frog? What happened?”

“The...the punching bag...in the back of her throat...” he wheezed, still shaken.

He'd hit the uvula and triggered her gag reflex, it seemed! Not what I intended, but it got the job done. The bounty hunter lay on the ground, paralyzed by the sudden void in her stomach. A quickly-summoned giant roll of duct tape proved to be an effective restraint besides making a super cool metallic cocoon. I shot a quick call to S.F.D.P. Headquarters as Aidyl started to angrily squirm around. Meanwhile, Triss finished sorting out the bills of various denominations from the crates.

“...forty thousand nine hundred, fifty thousand! Now where is my scalpel...? Ah!”

As Frog rapidly hopped out the door, I felt as though an enormous weight had been lifted from my shoulders. Not only had my wealth and storyline been restored, I had learned the invaluable means of bearing their potential loss.
“Everything turned out alright,” I bemusedly said to nobody, striving slightly to hear my own voice over the angry grunts of our murderous captive butterfly and the croaking screams emanating from the adjacent corridor.

The rest of the Saga is here.
In addition, this was designed to house my fifth SSC entry.

EARLY 2017 EDIT: I've just done a substantial edit of both parts of this story to improve on what I wrote when I was younger and a bit addled. Trying to smoothe and weed out the cringiest parts while preserving and enhancing the signature wonkiness was quite tricky, but I think I'm finally satisfied with having this slice of insanity open to public view indefinitely!

After three long months in the making its finally here. I honestly don't have much I care to say about it, so yeah.

I also can't give you a count of studs, but it was just slightly over 4 feet long, so you can do the calculations yourself.

...and also, finally crossing off building a SHIP from my lego bucket list. My first and most likely my last. (any more 100+ ships I can assure you will be completely unintentional)

Most importantly, I owe a huge thank you to all the people who encouraged me to actually follow through and finish this build and gave me support along the way, and especially to all my bros for building a sick nasty display to feature it on, without which I probably would have procrastinated indefinitely. most of all too Evan (Lego Junkie) for photographing it at Brickfair and helping edit these pics, because without him this wouldn't have gotten posted until much later in the month/year, if at all for that matter. So basically thanks guys! Much love!

The tree stands, in a broad sense, the relationship with the universal microcosm macrocosm and the connection of life indefinitely.
As this through the development of its density and reproduction represents the path until its death and regeneration, in the same way and the heavenly macroscopic assemblies of our universe show as we can understand, the course itself life to infinity.

I encourage you to read this inspirational passage by Rob Bell,

"Lust does not operate on a flat line, as if we can give in and stay at the same level of consumption indefinitely. People who are not aware of what they're dealing with will keep insisting that they're fine and that they can stop at any time. But they're 'darkened in their understanding.' They're operating under the assumption that lust can plateau at a certain level and simply stay there. But lust always wants more.

Which is why lust, over time, will always lead to despair. Which will always lead to anger.

Lust always leads to anger."

Flickr Boredom - Indefinitely WIP

(It looks best in lightbox)
The result of three different sessions of boredom, messing around in PMG.
Posting it here as a WIP because it may never really see the light of day otherwise.
Which brings me to that.
This is a level of detail far beyond what I normally do. Now I would LOVE to finish this thing, make a full rifle of this style... but this isn't something I've done before, or really know how to do. Hence why it only really gets worked on when I'm bored, and willing just to mess around and try things.
So for now, don't be expecting to see more from this anytime soon. That is... unless...
The other thing I wanted to mention.
I'm possibly considering using this as the start of a Collab. Maybe. Let me know if you are interested. I'll let you know then if I'm interested in doing this as a collab.
Also, since there is not guarantee I may ever finish this, I can probably be persuaded to part with the codes, if you think they're worth having.

So idk, let me know what you think, of this, and what you think I should do.

Also, credit to Matt 0.6 for the chrome.

Flickr Edge of the Blade (Sunset over the High Sierra)

Ah, the story of how I dragged my 50-pound pack almost to the summit of this 13,800 peak and set up camp only to find myself coming down with severe altitude sickness at age 20...

I'll leave most of the gory details to your imagination, but let's just say that one night of acclimation for a near-fourteener campsite ain't enough. For those of you who recognize this peak and have done its class 2 route up the west slope, the chute used was filled with steep snow, and without an ice axe, I had to take a totally different class 3 route to the summit ridge. I’d already climbed 4500 feet that day with my heavy pack and I was about to fall over dead every 10 steps. Feeling the severe lightheadedness coming on and beginning to have lots of trouble breathing around 12,500 feet, I’d stuff my face with salty snacks and power through a large bottle of water every 10 minutes.

Stupid as I was, I pushed on. I knew there was a great little bivy site another thousand feet above, about 200 feet below the summit – that site had been my goal for years and I wasn’t about to give it up. I had visions of waking up to awe-inspiring sunrise alpenglow the next morning, and my body wasn’t about to stop me.

After five hours of stop-and-go hiking and class 3 climbing, feeling like I couldn’t take another step if my life depended on it, I had reached the summit ridge and my jaw fell at this view on the other side. The evening light was beginning to strike the peaks, and while it was clear I’d have to wait for sunrise to have the best alpenglow, I knew I’d get something at sunset. I sat down for half an hour to recover, somehow finding mustering up enough energy to fumble around with my tent and sleeping bag to set everything up in my bivy spot, 200 feet below the summit.

The sunset light grew quite nice – in fact, it was gorgeous. I wasn’t expecting such a brilliant show. Frankly, I was too shitfaced to appreciate it, but I took hundreds of pictures, as I began to wonder if it would be the last thing I ever did. Memories of some of the happy moments of my life began to play back in my head. I wasn’t hungry for dinner, but I cooked some food and forced myself to eat it. I nearly threw it right back up. Now dark outside, I lay in my sleeping bag for five minutes, ten minutes, an hour…and I only felt worse. If you haven’t experienced this, a good analogy is to take a tiny coffee stirring straw and try to breathe through it…and imagine sustaining that indefinitely. Around 10PM, I reluctantly accepted that if I stayed where I was, I was not going to make it through the night alive. I had no choice but to attempt to find my way down the mountain in total darkness.

Thanks to a near-photographic memory, I managed to follow my route down in the dead of the night, arriving back at the trail at 12,000 feet just after 1AM, feeling a little better but still trashed. I pondered heading back to my car and driving back down the hill, but I realized that I wouldn’t be back till sunrise anyway, so I headed down to 11,300 feet on the other side of the pass and set up camp at 2AM. Having been 200 feet from the summit, I never quite reached it. And I never saw my sunrise. Needless to say, though, that was the very last thing I cared about right then. I was alive. That’s what mattered.

I felt a bit better the next morning, enough to leave my pack at my campsite and hike around for 10 miles…by the third day, I was mostly fine. The snowstorm that came in on the third day is a story of its own.

Man, I love the backcountry life. I wouldn’t give it up for anything.

Let me know what you think!

Sarzeau is a town in the Morbihan department of Brittany, on the Rhuys peninsula that forms the southern edge of the Morbihan Gulf (to the south of Vannes).

The town has its origins in the 14th century, when a hospital was built here and when the dense forests of the region (now gone) were a popular hunting ground for the Dukes of Brittany.

If you head south from SARZEAU to the coast at ROHALIGUEN, you will discover an extensive sandy beach that extends for several kilometres.

Flickr don't close your eyes to the modern day pirates ~ cancers gray market thieves
Tags: bej   abigfave   anawesomeshot
Welcome to the new real world of cancer ~ the world of modern day pirates and sheer greed. In this world, the victims are cancer patients and its happening in every country around the world. Its a world where life saving cancer drugs are being horded by unscrupulous second market suppliers, called the gray market, and they are creating shortages in the regular marketplace in order to profit. In fact, the profits are so high they are grotesque. These unscrupulous dealers are holding hospitals and clinics hostage, marking up the critical medications needed as high as 4000 times their normal cost.

But it doesn't stop there. NHS patients in the UK are being put at risk because profiteering pharmacists are selling prescription drugs to Europe. As many as one in ten pharmacists, as well as wholesalers, dispensing doctors and even NHS hospitals are making money in an export trade worth an estimated £360million a year. Government guidance condemns it as unethical, but there is nothing ministers can do as it is entirely legal for drugs to be traded in this way within the EU.

Health Canada announced in August that more than a dozen drugs imported by several different companies may be indefinitely in short supply. This has resulted in forcing Canadian patients to take substitutes that could lead to more side effects or be less effective, according to experts. Some experts are particularly concerned by the new shortages because they involve a number of cancer drugs that can’t easily be replaced with other treatments.

In America, CBS News investigative correspondent Armen Keteyian reports a record drug shortage has opened the door for gray market companies that expoit the short supply. They buy up drugs for everything from cancer to infections, stockpile them, then sell them to hospitals at massive markups.

Theft and diversion of drugs to the gray market often starts in the factories manufacturing drugs. Not all pharmaceutical companies make their own drugs, but outsource to factories where inadequate or even absent quality assurance checks result in the dispatching of a substandard or even counterfeit product. To make matters worse, the production of counterfeit drugs are often manufactured by small, backyard, cottage industries. For example, in China, the government closed 1,300 illegal factories and prosecuted cases involving counterfeit drugs worth more than $57 million in 2002.

Once drugs are transported to distribution centers or warehouses for final distribution to clinics and hospitals, the most common security breach involves what is called supplanting. This is where a pallet, or shipment crate, of drugs, or even whole shipping containers containing thousands of individual packets of drugs, are stolen and replaced by a fake or substandard product, and the stolen drugs are diverted into private sector markets.

The problem is that the grey market is working legally under the current drug distribution laws of all countries which mainly are a result of globalization, outsourcing and open access. For the past two years the problem is getting much worse and making many pirates rich. Just ask the hospitals around the globe who are solicited daily to purchase the much needed cancer drugs they cannot get from their regular suppliers at anywhere from 600% to 4000% markup!

Currently, the governments of all the countries are racking their brains trying to figure out how to resolve this critical situation and keep their ever rising medical costs down.

Hello? I am not a politician or law maker, but shut these idiots down and make the gray market illegal. Make it illegal for pharmacists to sell drugs to anyone but their patients and make the penalty swift. Make the very profitable big pharma industry adhere to a strict supply policy and hold them criminally liable if don't. And finally, set a limited fair market markup on these critical life saving drugs.

After all, the last time I looked, according to the rules of the Geneva Conventions, the taking of hostages is a forbidden act.

Flickr Such Elegance And Beauty, But Not Even CLose To What I Really Saw

I was way behind my husband and daughter, as I was so captivated by
the beauty of these roses. They were so delicate and whispy. An
elegant surprise for me, in this lovely rose garden. The coolness of
the air in this part of the garden was refreshing too, and so, my wish
to stay here and keep trying for a more wonderful shot, was well
understood. But, eventually, I had to let go of my desire to stay
here indefinitely and carry on, to find my family. May you find times
of refreshment in this coming year, and may they linger in your heart,
mind, and soul. God refresh you with His loveliness and coolness of
His Living water.

Flickr CE QUE NOUS SAVONS.......What we know

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What we know
We are the earth by plants and animals that give us our food.

We are the rains and the oceans that flow through our veins.

We are the breath of the forests and plants of the sea

We are animals, humans, connected to all life, descendants of the primordial cell.

We share the history of this family living in our genes.

We share this, which undermines the uncertainty. We share the future, yet to be invented.

We are one species among the thirty million who weave the thin veil of life enveloping the planet.

The stability of living communities depends on this diversity.

We are the links of this chain, eating, cleansing, sharing

and reiterating the basics of life.

Our home, planet Earth, can provide infinite resources, all life shares

the riches of the earth and the sun's energy and can not grow indefinitely.

For the first time we have reached the limits of growth.

When we compromise the air, water, soil and the diversity of life,

we fly to infinity in the future to meet an ephemeral present.

Oregon Coast. This night had all the potenial to be an epic evening. While I didn't get the intense cotton candy clouds, I thought this was kinda cool. It took quite a few shots to get the waves to kinda mirror the sky, this was the closest I got. I defintely love shooting the action of waves, feels like fishing. I use a pair of ultra lightweight waders that are way easy to hike in anywhere with my gear, so I'm able to stand out in the waves indefinitely and hopefully get different perspectives. Your thoughts are always appreciated. Thanks for looking

A tiny jellyfish, shorter than its name, Turritopsis Nutricula, has managed to reverse the aging process.

Most jellyfish die after reproducing, but this "immortal jellyfish" reverts to its younger self and scientists believe it can repeat the cycle indefinitely.

Originally found in the Caribbean, immortal jellyfish are multiplying rapidly and swarming around the world. It’s great news for geneticists studying aging, but not so good from an ecological point of view.

If a jellyfish can live forever, why shouldn’t we?

♥♥ ♥♥ ♥♥ ♥♥ ♥♥ ♥♥ ♥♥ ♥♥ ♥♥ ♥♥ ♥♥ ♥♥ ♥♥ ♥♥ ♥♥ ♥♥ ♥♥ ♥♥ ♥♥ ♥♥

Infatuation is a flash that has an expiration date. The high emotional charge makes it necessary, nothing with such intensity can be maintained indefinitely. But without it,
there can´t be what comes next: attachment, the need to link, the fear of loss, the pleasure of sharing, security, confidence... Perhaps no question of falling in love, but is
when TRUE LOVE really starts.

Muleway tunnel connecting the 1st and 2nd levels of a long abandoned coal mine. 100 years ago these narrow winding passages (now covered in a bright orange 'mine muck') allowed mules to travel down to the various levels of the mine. The miners would descend via a large underground elevator but the skittish mules required these narrow passages. The idea of using mules as beasts of burden to haul material in mines in an interesting one and from what I've read it seems pretty isolated to the coal industry. Many abandoned coal mines in the Pennsylvania and West Virginia area had underground barns for the mules where they'd live for weeks at a time never seeing daylight. From what I've read the mules were actually treated fairly well and considered critical for moving coal carts in areas of the mine where it wasn't practical to build interior rail and electric or pneumatic hoists. The miners often formed bonds with the mules with some accounts of them sharing meals and even chewing tobacco. Today the muleway is the only link to the different levels of this large mine. I'm told there could be as many as 7-9 levels of this mine but we were only able to explore two fully due to potentially bad air. With the other levels indefinitely entombed forever - too deep and too far from the opening to allow oxygen to flow in.
