This was taken from the upper viewing area which is "open topped". I waited for ages to capture a moment while everyone was looking out of the window, then a lady walked straight in front of me, even better ;-). It's not the best place for photography as the windows reflect like crazy and there's nothing really to compose against. That said, I highly recommend a visit just to look at London from above and enjoy watching the city go by. It really was rather peaceful up there! A great day out and a memorable birthday for Liesel. I haven't been well for about 2 months.. Today I sat for 3 and 1/2 hours in a dentist chair getting a root canal fixed that had become infected... It was a tortuous 3 hours, but i was so happy to get in and get the tooth fixed so that the infection would leave and i would begin to have energy and feel better again... The appointment was at 8am.. in Seattle... I am a night owl and detest getting up in the morning, but was so desperate to get this fixed, I would have been there at 6 if they wanted!! Now 10 days of antibiotics... but i should be feeling much better in the next few days! YAY!! (this is looking out my front door) I am way behind on looking at all your lovely pictures... I have now taken 2 van loads of stuff out of my house and given it to friends or charity... I am trying to get going on several projects i have cooking... LOL... I will save that story for another day and another picture. This week was a hard one- I didn't realize how much I would be affected by Mom's birthday. I actually sobbed out lout a few times... But they are tears that bring on healing. I will, to one extent or another, always miss her. Well while we were on the Western wild shores of this amazing place we decided to blow half our vacation budget on this extremely nice Bed and Breakfast for 3 days! Well we were amazed just walking into this place and we were just blown away by our room. This was just a partial view from our balcony sitting 100 feet above the rugged rocky shoreline! We visited Rye in early July, 2008, and immediately added it to our list of favorite English small towns along with Ludlow in Shropshire, Bakewell in Derbyshire, Richmond in Yorkshire, and Moreton in Marsh in the Cotswolds. We were only there for the afternoon, but we managed to walk the cobblestone streets, tour Henry James' Lamb House (National Trust ), climb the church tower for the views, and take a three mile loop walk out to Camber Castle and back . If you click on the Slideshow for the set to the right and run it in Full Screen Mode, you can follow us up Mermaid Street, past Ypres Castle, through the Old City Gate, past the shops on High Street, around the Church Square, into St. Marys Church, and then up to the top of the church tower (not for the faint hearted) for views of the town, Camber Castle, the River Rother, and Romney Marsh.
