This is not me Sometimes things happen that we never expect to happen; people let us down when they aren't supposed to; opportunities are shattered when we tried so hard to reach out for them. One of the worst feelings in the world is disappointment, thinking that you were good enough for something, or someone, and finding out in the end that you weren't. Because disappointment is overwhelming. It's thick and strong and intense, and it engulfs you in darkness. It tastes like sick feelings of silent emptiness, bitter desperation, endless frustration. It knocks you off your feet so abruptly and painfully that you need a while before you're able to climb up again. To face new challenges and keep moving on. But sometimes you remain on the ground because it seems so hard and hopeless to ever try again. I know how it feels. That moment of expectations, days, weeks, months, of expectations, all smashed in a few seconds. All gone. Isn't it an awful thing, to happen to anyone? I occasionally wish the world wasn't so unfair. That things will go to those who do deserve them, in the end. A loss, is not a loss if it goes to someone who has worked harder than you, someone who needs it more, someone who truly deserves it. Of course that is never the case, is it? But it will be alright. If I'm, if you're not considered good enough for someone, why bother trying to fulfill their unreasonable expectations? Just because one person wasn't fair, doesn't mean the whole world isn't. Those fashion photographies are not as simple as they pretend to be, each is dwelling with a real social work. Among the many people involved there, Anand who is modeling for our catalogue since the begining of the company is escaping for a while his tough condition of boatman on the Ganges and, using his dark colour skin complexion breaks a social taboo in India. The fabric of this tablecloth is in pure linen, it involves handloom weavers of Varanasi struggling with their workshops and the embroidery inspired by the Mughal style is done in our workshop. To even try to capture it in words is like trying to describe life itself. So instead, I will simply state that since I learned to dive back in 1997, my life has changed forever. SCUBA diving is underwater flying in three dimensional space. The wildlife routinely is as curious about you as you are of it. The light shifts through ripples on the surface, and under the kelp, sun beam fractals split, bend and reunite. Many divers only descend into the depths if the water is clear and warm, but they are missing out. There exists a mystical, magical quality to the light when it passes through planktonic microorganisms, through life itself. I'll take my kelp forests any day over "warm and clear". And I'm crossing my fingers my ear heals up to allow me to dive another day. The depth of my love for the underwater world knows no bounds. Down in the depth of my dreams, reality fades away sometimes... This is a picture of my friend Ray Manta who is dancing in the Trocadéro Aquarium Ballet in the heart of Paris and who came to visit me in Varanasi (Benaras) recently. We were at Scindia Ghat where stands Shiva's mandir, my favorite temple, and Ray wanted to show me his new choregraphy on which he is working for next spring. Shiva's temple is lying partially submerged in the holy waters of river Ganga, having fallen in as a result of the sheer weight of the ghat’s construction around 150 years ago. But there is a legend saying that the man who had this temple being made ordered it after his mother asked him to. After its construction he went back to her and told her then that this way he paid her back everything she did for him. The mother became furious and said that nothing could ever paid a mother's love and she decided to curse the temple which started to bend like the tower of Pisa. In summers during monsoon the Ganges' flood are covering most of the monument and this image might be the view which fishes can enjoy then.
