Once they turn black, the birds are on them in seconds. So if you see some, eat up. Photographers like them too :) I had about 15 today. This is a native Texas shrub or small tree that ripens in various locations in the Texas Hill County at different times from the first of August way down south to the end of August in the northern portions. They make a great landscape tree as well with their exfoliating bark (like a crepe mertle). Austin Street Seguin, Texas Built in 1929 when Seguin boasted a population of 7812, the Texas is among the few remaining classic theatres of the twenties. Well preserved, the architecture is a Spanish Colonial motif. The interior reflects that of an open-air theatre with a star-studded, sky-blue ceiling and archway panels with painted trees. Interior lights are designed after lanterns, complete with their original mica panels. Seating capacity of the theatre was originally 500. Respacing of seats in 1968 rendered a capacity of 300. The exterior remains unchanged. The original Texas sign uses hundreds of individual bulbs. Among the finest signs of this type, popular before neon. "The Great Waldo Pepper" and Raggedy Man" include scenes filmed here. They are the largest spps of snake found in the United States. They eat everything from mice to birds to lizards to their favorite food; rattlesnakes. The fact that they eat rattlesnakes has made them somewhat of a hero amongst Texas Ranchers and as such, are rarely intentionally killed. They are known locally as "Blue Indigos" Can grow up to a massive 8-9 feet. Found this one on a private ranch about 15 feet up in a tree. The good ole' reliable mocking birds let me know he was there. It took a bit of climbing in the adjacent tree to get even with him. I'm guessing his size to be at or around 7.5 feet. They are listed as "Threatened" by the state of Texas and cannot be collected.
