Founded in 2010, soon after the creation of a New York State Farm Distillery License, Kings County makes handmade moonshine and bourbon out of the 113-year-old Paymaster Building in the Brooklyn Navy Yard. The distillery uses New York grain, traditional processes, and unorthodox distilling equipment to make distinctive whiskey.The Brooklyn Navy Yard a modern industrial park in a historical setting. With tenants representing a variety of industries like construction, theatrical set design, computer and office supplies, contracting, refrigerated distribution facilities, media communications and promotions, motor overhauling, and metal fabrication, the Navy Yard is capable of handling any type of business with a planned Multi-story Green Industrial Facility and New Green Manufacturing Plant. Built on the Royal Mile in the Old Town between 1636 and 1647 even older parts of Edinburgh's Old Town were demolished to make way for the church - some recently excavated parts of the older remains are now made visible inside the church. The Tron is unusual for an old church in being almost square in the floorplan, but this is because parts of it had to be changed as the Old Town around it was altered over the centuries, such as the construction of South Bridge (which most visitors think is a street, lined with shops, until they reach the middle and realise it is a vast stone structure above the lower reaches of the Old Town, Edinburgh is full of such surprises), which meant the Tron had to lose its east wing. The very tall spire, which you may have noticed frequently in the backdrop to many of my Edinburgh Festival Fringe photos on the Royal Mile, is actually a replacement as the original, shorter spire was lost in the great fire of 1824. There was a selection of vintage uses as well as a selection of Lothian Buses serving fleet. There were various tours around the depot, you could jump on the Hybrid buses and go through the bus wash. Take a trip on an old LRT vintage bus from 1964 round the depot or take a modern look through the depot using open top buses. Today was a large improvement from previous years. There were far more buses and lots more to do! He brought up examples of records held within the miles of shelving, including Arthur Conan Doyle's birth record and Rob Roy's will. Amazing bit of Victorian structure and still in use. The Canada Life Building is a historic office building in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The fifteen-floor Beaux Arts building was built by Sproatt & Rolph and stands at 285 feet (87 m), 321 feet (97.8 m) including its weather beacon. Work on the new headquarters of the Canada Life Assurance Company began in 1929 and it opened in 1931. An additional two floors plus weather beacon were added in 1951. "The exterior facade of the building is made of limestone and features a portico of ten Roman Tuscan columns, 35 ft. high, and enclosing a balcony at the second floor. The columns extend upward through three stories." The building was completed in 1983, and rises 52 floors and 709 feet (216 m) in height. The building stands as the second-tallest building in Denver and Colorado, and as the 111th-tallest building in the United States. 1801 California Street was previously occupied by offices for US West, but now serves as the world headquarters of Qwest Communications. Upon its completion in 1983, the building stood as the tallest building in the city. However, it held it's distinction for less than a year, being surpassed by Republic Plaza in 1984. The building has a brown concrete façade, and has a stepped design featuring four setbacks. It is an example of late-modernist high-rise architecture. The shape of the building resembles two interlocked octagonal sections, which separate near the building's roof. The roof houses an antenna mast; with this structure included, the building reaches to a total height of 738 feet (225 m), surpassing the 717-foot (219 m) roof of Republic Plaza. From the Doors Open Peterborough 2007 web site: Prominent merchant and developer Thomas Bradburn built this mansion around 1868. An imposing Gothic building with steep roofs and heavy bargeboards, it became St. Vincent’s Orphanage (1909–50s), then a nursing home. Additions have obscured the original exterior. Trent University purchased it in the 1990s, building more sympathetic additions. She never actually lived in this house. Trent University named their buildings after pioneer women of the arts who had lived at some point in their lives in Peterborough County. From the Doors Open Ontario website: Built around 1870 by lawyer David Dumble to resemble his family home in Cobourg, Langton House’s steep roof, heavy bargeboards and gables are typically Gothic. Trent University bought the house in 1965 and remodeled it for use as offices and a residence. The porch was demolished, but otherwise the original exterior remains intact.
