This is a total re-process from the ground up of the data captured earlier this month. The previous version had some issues, including a set of out of date flats which I had forgotten to refresh after changing focuser.

I also discovered the gamma settings on my iMac screen were much too high, making the blacks too deep, I was compensating by processing the background too light.

Imaged throughout early March this is a culmination of 17 hours of data captured in LRGB.

This Galaxy has a huge difference in surface brightness between the central core and outer spiral arms posing a challenge for both image capture and processing.

Imaged with an Altair Astro 6"RC and Atik 314l+. Processed in Pixinsight and Photoshop CS5.

This is just made up of all my 2014 data, with all the old data discarded. Over the course of the last 2 months I've taken 8 hours of luminance and 3 hours of each RGB channel.

A full moon and a series of winter storms meant this was very hard going and perhaps the longest it has even taken me to finish an image!

A combination of data captured across 2013 and 2014 totaling around 16.5 hours of LRGB imaging.

With it's galactic neighbour getting all the glory at the moment due to "Supernova 2014J", I thought I'd post an early process of my capture. I still have plans for further RGB imaging time this year, so I'm far from done with this yet.

All data captured with an Altair Astro 6" RC, Atik 314l+, processed in Pixinsight and CS5. The 2014 data was imaged through an IDAS LP2 stack in front of the Luminance filter.

A further four hours of luminance has started to bring out the surrounding halo in the disc of the galaxy. I think you could plug away for ever on this galaxy dragging out more and more signal. The full moon will put a stop to further progress, but next will be the RGB.

This is a tricky target for me as it barely clears the roof of my house from the back garden where I image, I have to contend with TV aerials, chimneys, boiler exhausts, bathroom lights flicking on and off and thermals from the roof tops, which all conspire against me!

Last nights clear spell wasn't actually as good as promised, but decent enough to capture 3 hours of OIII. The sky was milky and damp, but there was decent seeing towards the zenith. Rain has set in again and with the moon looming it may be a while before I can add any more OIII.

The colour mapping is pretty standard, Ha to red and OIII to blue and green.

Imaged in Hydrogen Alpha and Oxygen III. Approximately 5.5 hours exposure time, the colour palette is made up from applying Hydrogen to red and Oxygen to both green and blue. A Luminance channel from a blend of both the Hydrogen and Oxygen data was applied over the top of the colour image in Pixinsight.

ABOUT THIS IMAGE

A Young Tree Standing Alone

Captured on Orcutt Road, Arroyo Grande, San Luis Obispo County, California during a brief storm which, finally brought some much needed rain to the area. I was able to sneak inbetween a few rain showers to click a few frames. A small young tree standing against the elements is struggling to grow into the giant of his fathers.

Various processing issues in the first version of this image, which have been for the most part resolved. I used the same colour combination as before, but this time used the Ha frame as a luminance layer to reduce the stars and boost saturation without chrominance noise. The result is much more colour, better stars and no halos.

8 hours of exposure with an Altair Astro 6" RC, Atiik 314l+, Astrodon Ha & OIII filters. Processed in Pixinsight and CS5.

A first look at the RGB data captured over the last couple of nights. The addition of the IDAS LP2 filter means I can now shoot 10 minute RGB subs without issue, giving a real improvement in the quality of data capture.

Exposure time is a little short of 8 hours in RGB & Ha, with the hydrogen gas blended in to the red channel and a small amount added to luminosity. I think there is still more to get here in the background dust and surrounding reflection nebula, so I could be stuck on this for some time yet.

This is the first time I've tried merging Ha in to RGB on an emission nebula, I wanted to retain all the detail and contrast of a Ha image but with the star colours of an RGB image. The processing was done as per usual in Pixinsight, but I merged the Ha in to the red channel in CS5 at 40% opacity and again at 20% opacity in normal blend mode. I then re-used a little of the Ha as a luminance set to around 20% opacity.

There is 6 hours of exposure time here, 3 in Ha and another hour in each RGB channel. It's taken me exactly a month to collect that much data, lets not even mention the weather here.

ABOUT THIS IMAGE

Lalush’s Beast

I saw an image of this rock a Flickr contact had beautifully made and vowed to find and photograph it. I emailed him asking for the location with no response. I even used Google Earth trying to locate this rock. It was more difficult because the photographer had used a 15mm lens down low and very close making the rock look huge. After a 4 month search I finally saw the rock for the first time. It was right in front of my nose at a location I frequent many times. It took 3 times of going back before the conditions were somewhat close to capturing an image. The tide was too low, kids were climbing all over it, there weren’t any clouds or the sand was trampled. Finally I was able to click a few frames, but the sky was blown out. It was a very contrasty scene. So I salvaged another image of a beautiful long exposed sky I had taken months earlier a mile north of this location and merged the two.

The Getty Center, in Brentwood, Los Angeles, California, is a campus for the J. Paul Getty Trust founded by oilman J. Paul Getty. The $1.3 billion center, which opened on December 16, 1997, is also well known for its architecture, gardens, and views overlooking Los Angeles. The center sits atop a hill connected to a visitors' parking garage at the bottom of the hill by a three-car, cable-pulled tram. The center draws 1.3 million visitors annually.
It is one of two locations of the J. Paul Getty Museum. This branch of the museum specializes in "pre-20th-century European paintings, drawings, illuminated manuscripts, sculpture, and decorative arts; and 19th- and 20th-century American and European photographs". Among the works on display is the painting Irises by Vincent van Gogh. Besides the museum, the center's buildings house the Getty Research Institute(GRI), the Getty Conservation Institute, the Getty Foundation, and the administrative offices of the J. Paul Getty Trust, which owns and operates the center. The center also has outdoor sculptures displayed on terraces and in gardens. Designed by architect Richard Meier, the campus includes a central garden designed by artist Robert Irwin. GRI's separate building contains a research library with over 900,000 volumes and two million photographs of art and architecture. The center's design included special provisions to address concerns regarding earthquakes and fires.

Location and history
Originally, the Getty Museum started in J. Paul Getty's house located in Pacific Palisades in 1954. He expanded the house with a museum wing. In the 1970s, Getty built a replica of an Italian villa on his home's property to better house his collection, which opened in 1974. After Getty's death in 1976, the entire property was turned over to the Getty Trust for museum purposes. However, the collection outgrew the site, which has since been renamed the Getty Villa, and management sought a location more accessible to Los Angeles. The purchase of the land upon which the center is located, a campus of 24 acres (9.7 ha) on a 110-acre (45 ha) site in the Santa Monica Mountains above Interstate 405, surrounded by 600 acres (240 ha) kept in a natural state, was announced in 1983. The site cost $25 million. The top of the hill is 900 feet (270 m) above I-405, high enough that on a clear day it is possible to see not only the Los Angeles skyline but also the San Bernardino Mountains and San Gabriel Mountains to the east as well as the Pacific Ocean to the west.
In 1984, Richard Meier was chosen to be the architect of the center. After an extensive conditional-use permit process, construction by the Hathaway Dinwiddie Construction Company began in August 1989. The construction was significantly delayed, with the planned completion date moved from 1988 to 1995 (as of 1990). By 1995, however, the campus was described as only "more than halfway complete".
The center finally opened to the public on December 16, 1997. Although the total project cost was estimated to be $350 million as of 1990, it was later estimated to be $1.3 billion. After the center opened, the villa closed for extensive renovations and reopened on January 28, 2006, to focus on the arts and cultures of ancient Greece, Rome, and Etruria. Currently, the museum displays collections at both the Getty Center and the Getty Villa in Pacific Palisades.
In 2005, after a series of articles in the Los Angeles Times about the spending practices of the Getty Trust and its then-president Dr. Barry Munitz, the California Attorney General conducted an investigation of the Getty Trust and found that no laws had been broken. The trust agreed to appoint an outside monitor to review future expenditures. The Getty Trust experienced financial difficulties in 2008 and 2009 and cut 205 of 1,487 budgeted staff positions to reduce expenses. Although the Getty Trust endowment reached $6.4 billion in 2007, it dropped to $4.5 billion in 2009.

Architecture
Meier has exploited the two naturally-occurring ridges (which diverge at a 22.5 degree angle) by overlaying two grids along these axes. These grids serve to define the space of the campus while dividing the import of the buildings on it. Along one axis lie the galleries and along the other axis lie the administrative buildings. Meier emphasized the two competing grids by constructing strong view lines through the campus. The main north-south axis starts with the helipad, then includes a narrow walkway between the auditorium and north buildings, continues past the elevator kiosk to the tram station, through the rotunda, past the walls and support columns of the exhibitions pavilion, and finally the ramp besides the west pavilion and the central garden. Its corresponding east-west visual axis starts with the edge of the scholar's wing of the Getty Research Institute (GRI), the walkway between the central garden and the GRI, the overlook to the azalea pool in the central garden, the walkway between the central garden and the west pavilion, and finally the north wall of the west pavilion and the courtyard between the south and east pavilions.
The main axes of the museum grid that is offset by 22.5 degrees begins with the arrival plaza, carries through the edge of the stairs up to the main entrance, aligns with the columns supporting the rotunda as well as the center point of the rotunda, aligns with travertine benches in the courtyard between the pavilions, includes a narrow walkway between the west and south pavilions, a staircase down to the cactus garden and ends in the garden. The corresponding cross axis starts with the center point of the circle forming the GRI library garden, then passing to the center of the entrance rotunda, and aligning with the south wall of the rotunda building. Although all of the museum is aligned on these alternative axes, portions of the exhibitions pavilion and the east pavilion are aligned on the true north-south axis as a reminder that both grids are present in the campus.
The primary grid structure is a 30-inch (760 mm) square; most wall and floor elements are 30-inch (760 mm) squares or some derivative thereof. The buildings at the Getty Center are made from concrete and steel with either travertine or aluminium cladding. Around 1,200,000 square feet (110,000 m2) of travertine was used to build the center.
Throughout the campus, numerous fountains provide white noise as a background. The initial design has remained intact; however benches and fences have been installed around the plaza fountains to discourage visitors from wading into the pools. Some additional revisions have been made in deference to the Americans with Disabilities Act.
The north promontory is anchored by a circular grass area, which serves as a heliport in case of emergencies, and the south promontory is anchored by a succulent plant and cactus garden. The complex is also encircled by access roads that lead to loading docks and staff parking garages on both the west and east sides of the buildings. The hillside around the complex has been planted with California Live Oak (Quercus agrifolia) trees.
The museum has a seven-story deep underground parking garage with over 1,200 parking spaces. Its roof has an outdoor sculpture garden. An automated three-car, cable-pulled tram takes passengers between the parking garage at the bottom of the hill and the museum at the top of the hill.

Montaña de Oro ("Mountain of Gold" in Spanish) is a state park in California, United States. The park is located six miles southwest of Morro Bay and 2 miles south of Los Osos. The name "Mountain of Gold" comes from the golden wildflowers found in the park.
It has 8,000 acres (32 km²) of cliffs, sandy beaches, coastal plains, streams, canyons, and hills, including the 1,347 ft (411 m) Valencia Peak. The park has many hiking, mountain biking, and equestrian trails, as well as a campground located across from Spooner’s Cove, a popular beach.

16th-18th century Chumash Indians on California's central coast

Five hundred years ago, when Europeans first arrived on the California's central coast, they found it inhabited by the Chumash Indians. An estimated 20,000 to 30,000 of them lived in small villages spread over a territory which extended from Morro Bay south to Malibu. Although the Chumash depended heavily upon the sea, they also drew on many other sources for food, clothing, and shelter, and were probably part of a large trading network. The Spanish Explorers who visited the Montana de Oro area in 1542 recorded that the Indians were attractive, friendly people who paddled out to greet them in canoes.
In 1769, Don Gaspar de Portola marched his troops north from San Diego to establish new territory for the king of Spain. With the beginning of the Mission period, the Indians were moved inland, and this was the beginning of the end for the Chumash. Most died from European diseases to which they had no immunity. The survivors abandoned their villages and disappeared. With them, their customs, heritage and culture all but vanished as well. Traces of Chumash middens (refuse mounds) and village sites can still be seen in the park, but our knowledge of the Chumash culture remains sketchy. Archaeological advances and further research may help fill in the gaps. For this reason, and so that others may enjoy them, it is against the law to tamper with or disturb any Indian sites.

Recent history

The property rights for the Montana de Oro State Park land area changed hands several times after California became a territory of the United States. It was used mostly for grazing sheep until 1892, when Alden B. Spooner, Jr., leased the land he later purchased around Islay Creek. He brought in dairy cattle, hogs and other agriculture. His two sons founded the Pecho Ranch & Stock Co., and built a ranch house, a complex of barns, a creamery, stables, sheds, and a waterwheel for power. On the south bluff of Spooner's Cove they utilized a warehouse with a long chute that led down to a wharf and a loading boom to service coastal steamers. The land just to the north was owned by Alexander S. Hazard, who also raised crops and maintained a dairy. Hoping to cash in on California's growing need for timber, he planted hundreds of eucalyptus trees, turning Hazard Canyon into a prospective lumber farm. Unfortunately, eucalyptus proved unsatisfactory for commercial use. In the early 1940s, a flood scoured Hazard Canyon, and in 1947 a grass fire burned up the coast from Diablo Canyon, destroying much of what had been the Hazard dairy buildings. However, Hazard's legacy, the rows of eucalyptus trees, remains. Rancher Oliver C. Field bought the land in the early 1940s, but sold it to Irene McAllister about ten years later. In 1965 the property was purchased by the State of California for a state park, and it was decided to keep the name McAllister had given it "Montana de Oro".
On April 24, 1965, Rancho Montana de Oro was dedicated as a California State Park after it was acquired in a "friendly" eminent domain proceeding under the Park acquisition program that then Governor Edmund G. "Pat" Brown had launched and managed to fund. The Rancho Montana de Oro property was held by a corporation, Rancho Montana de Oro, Inc., which was owned by the prominent Los Angeles trial and constitutional lawyer Morris Lavine and Irene M. Starkey. They had the options of developing the park land or preserving it as open space and in the public trust. They chose the later despite the fact that their financial gains were far less by doing so. Rancho Montana de Oro, until recently, has had the longest uninterrupted, preserved and undeveloped coastal area of any publicly owned land in California.

Wikipedia: Lucca is a city and comune in Tuscany, Central Italy, situated on the river Serchio in a fertile plain near the Tyrrhenian Sea. It is the capital city of the Province of Lucca. Among other reasons, it is famous for its intact Renaissance-era city walls. Lucca was founded by the Etruscans (there are traces of a pre-existing Ligurian settlement) and became a Roman colony in 180 BC. The rectangular grid of its historical centre preserves the Roman street plan, and the Piazza San Michele occupies the site of the ancient forum. Traces of the amphitheatre can still be seen in the Piazza dell'Anfiteatro. At the Lucca Conference, in 56 BC, Julius Caesar, Pompey, and Crassus reaffirmed their political alliance known as the First Triumvirate.

Lightbox ("L") recommended!

Until my last two uploads it's been nearly a year (4th Nov 2011) since I uploaded a shot with a daytime sky in it. Only 2 of the 28 shots I posted in that time were even taken in the daytime. Even then, you have to go back to August 2011 to find any real number of daytime shots. So I'm trying, briefly, to redress the balance.

This is my first attempt at a panorama shot. It's composed of seven handheld exposures; shot portrait on manual. The output was 600Mb! You won't need too keen an eye to spot the beginners mistakes; like the artifacts from the attempts to process out the vignetting. Anyway, I'd shot the images to make a panorama, and felt it wouldn't count as following through if I didn't post them. Criticism would be, as ever, hugely appreciated.

I used content aware fill on CS5 to fill corners. When it built the other half of the far left tree, I was pretty stunned. It's more magic than technology.

This is a shot from Zumwalt Meadow; a spot at the end of California's Kings Canyon National Park which offers a little circular walk beneath these giant crags. I'd recommend it hugely.

I'm part way through catching up from a couple of week's away, so sorry for the slow tour. Hope everyone's having a fantastic weekend!

Umm, I played with the color here a bit, if you didn't notice :) The foliage is so rich and full in our "neck of the woods" right now. This image had a touch of fantasy about it out of camera, so I gave that a bit of a boost with an "Autochrome" type processing with a low wood effect and bit of glow. My son looked at it and said, "It looks like a fairytale". The name was born. Enjoy!

Flickr MBP Retina CS5 Test
Tags: test   adobephotoshop   resolution   comparison   cs5   applemacbookprowithretinadisplay
UPDATE: As of December 2012, Adobe has made updates to their software to now properly support Retina Displays.

I had some time to check out a new MacBook Pro with Retina Display at the local Apple Store. I was very impressed with the display, but I needed to see how it would look when using my usual applications. They didn't have Lightroom installed, so I experimented with Photoshop CS5 instead. I opened a full-resolution JPG in Preview and then opened the same photo in CS5. I compared how the CS5 (non-Retina) looked to the Preview (Retina) version in the background. The Preview version was a 100% crop and the CS5 version was viewed at 50% to match scale. The difference in fine detail is very noticeable. Have a look for yourself at the full resolution version of this upload. In my opinion, it will not be possible to do detailed photo editing such as sharpening on a Retina display until Adobe updates its products for Retina graphics.

Photoshop and other non-Retina-capable applications think they're working with a 1440x900 display, so that is the graphic the program is generating. Meanwhile, the Mac knows it needs to scale all that up to 2880x1800. This is done by taking each pixel and expanding it to a four pixel area on screen (called pixel-doubling, since each linear dimension is doubled). That's why it looks pixelated.

In addition to the Adobe test, I also tried setting the display to different scaled resolutions and I was blown away at how good everything still looks (for applications that have Retina support, of course). The scaled 1920x1200 option appears just as sharp as the native 1920x1200 resolution on my current 17" MacBook Pro. Way to go, Apple! Unfortunately, non-Retina applications still look bad at the alternative resolutions.

Once the 3rd-party software catches up, this will be an amazing piece of hardware.

Apple Fanboys, please don't hate - I'm one of you.

Having tested about 8 different software packages yesterday and running extensive tests on file types I stepped away from Nikon's own Nx2 and even Adobes Photoshop CS4. I read that Adobe CS5 would work with the D7000's raw data, but only after it was updated so I went ahead and bought CS5 (€700) to see if it was true. It worked a charm and the updates only took about 20 minutes. It's a shame higher end cameras are increasingly demanding of much faster software but in the long run its already saved me a lot of time and work. The file converter that Adobe offer is quite good but I can't help but wonder if there is a loss of data. I tested all of CS5's usual features and raw processing abilities, so far there have been no problems.

From the first moment we swing our weight forward and back and keep moving higher, everyone has the same thought; just how high can I go? Who doesn't dream of going all the way over the bars as a kid? 'I wanna be the first person, I really think I can do it' we all think to ourselves as we move higher and higher but there are always those to hit us with reality. Whether its the guys on Myth Busters explaining how it's impossible to go all the way over the bars, or even your good friend explaining Santa isn't real, we've all been crushed by the harsh truths, that we believed in so much before, that someone has sent our way. We grow up to learn, we grow to move forward and although you may never make it all the way over the bars who says you can't swing above them all?

What:
Just me getting damn lucky that the sky opened up at the last minute just enough to light up the clouds as the sun set.

Where:
Lawrencetown Beach
Nova Scotia
Canada

About:
Last Sunday I decided to take a drive over to the beaches on the Dartmouth side. The afternoon had been mostly cloudy but they were the cool types of clouds. The sun would poke through for only moments at a time so I had my fingers crossed.

The shot:
Just a typical time the waves to capture their retreat over the rocks. I love the patterns made and how they change so much depending on shutter speed.
By the way this is a vertorama, I exposed for and shot the sky first and then shot a series of exposures on the water until I got a decent one.

Processing:
I joined the top & bottom frames manually in CS5 to created the vertorama that gave me more of a square format that I was after.

EXIF data:
(for the lower half)

Please, no multiple invites or crazy glittery graphics. Thank You

Another play with CS5, this time with the content aware feature.. you can see below how I stitched two poorly aligned photo's in Photoshop. I then used CS5's Content Aware to fill in the white parts. It wasn't perfect, but this only took a few minutes and I did the area of the clouds midway to the left twice.. looks a trifle strange as does a bit of the foreground bottom right, but not a bad effort for a few minutes work :-)

Looking into Newlands Valley, the Lake District :-)

About The Shot | Welcome To DQ (HDR #57):
This was captured yesterday.

This was a way overexposed photograph of a penstemon flower--a hummingbird favorite! It was a windy day--as always these days it seems we have windy days--so not only did I have to watch out for shakes in the camera but also the flower itself.

I used standard 100mm f/2.8 macro lens but the light wasn't right. I decided to test CS5's new paint blending brush. I find it awesome!! You have to watch which direction you brush--it picks up colors from where it starts. It creates various textures based on the many brushes the palette offers. If you have Wacom, like I do, or something similar, it is sensitive to the pressure and tilt of the pen. Truly easy to make a descent painting out of a bad photograph! =)

Flickr D300s - CS5 - Nik Software

First time out with D300s.
WARNING; I'm a Photoshop CS3 user and took it for granted that there would be no difficulty processing my Nikon D300s NEF RAW files (having a D300 already) ... big mistake! To cut a long story short, PS3 will not recognise D300s RAW files. And this is the hard part!! .. the plug-in for the D300s provided by Adobe is only available for CS4! Also, Adobe DNG Converter will not convert the D300s NEF files, this is very disappointing. As a short-term fix, I've downloaded a trial version of CS5, which works just fine, no plug-in required. In fact, I'll probably buy the license ... I just hate being bullied into this position by Adobe and Nikon!!

Im aware that there are half a dozen ways around this, using GIMP and similar applications, but I have established a fairly consistent workflow pattern that I am loath to change. If you are in the market to invest in the D300s, you would be advised to consider image processing options in advance.

PS; If you are a Black and White Photography fan and use a Nik Software plug-in bundle, eg - Sliver Efex Pro, then you will also be upset to learn that the Sliver Efex plug-in will NOT run on CS5! (Apparently Nik are currently working on a free up-grade of their very popular plug-in) ... why did Adobe not contact them in advance to give them time to prepare for CS5 or why are Nik so out of touch with developments in Adobe!! End of whinge for today:-(

Hellooooo !!!

Its good to upload at last !!!

I have been playing in CS5 and I love it !!!

Lots of things have been going right for me lately.. its pretty amazing.. my work side of things is really busy and I have had to start thinking about taking on a photo re-toucher !

I have also been involved in other areas of photography that I would never have thought about.. and im finding it really interesting.

Photoshop CS5 is brilliant !!

I have learnt a few new techiques.. nothing magical but it will help me with my day-to-day stuff..

I am also taking better pictures these days.. my studio is all running perfect.

Away from photography/photoshop... its great too.. the kids are all happy and back to normal.. no more chicken pox !!

My eldest is flying through his SATS exams without any problems.. so proud of him !

It just feels great at the minute..

I can not think of ideas for my photoshop creations though.. I am hitting a blank at the minute.. The image above has taken me 3 days.
Thats 3 days to think of ! not to process and edit.. just to think of doing it !! 2 hours to edit !

my mind is blank.. but im sure it will pass..

But as for now everything is perfect.. I.m just waiting for some motherfucker to come and piss on my life and ruin it..as we all know happens eventually when things are going good !!

who knows !! ha ha

Have a great weekend my awesome flickr buddies !!!!!!!! :o)

Edit: Explored !!!!! whoooo !! thank you !!!

Here we have Scarlett Johansson. First we make our selection, and then we'll let Content Aware Fill chew through the image. While we watch the progress bar race across the screen, imagine how long it would have taken to manually paint in her imaginary regions. Once complete, we reveal Scarlett's severly deformed torso.

Vraiment rien à voire avec la CS4 en terme de rapidité, c'est du lourd, ça se voit.

Reste plus qu'à attendre la compatibilité de mes Plug-in

Flickr Photoshop CS5 HDR Pro Review

Read Full Article:
captainkimo.com/photoshop-cs5-hdr-pro-review

I did a post a few days back about the new CS5 HDR Pro Tool. After seeing a video on YouTube, I posted unfavorably against it, but I spoke to soon. Now that I’ve taken it for a test drive, I am very impressed!

As you all know I’m a big HDR buff, and when it comes to HDR software, I’m very critical to the results and how it applies to my workflow. For the past couple of years I’ve been a loyal user of Photomatix. Basically because there wasn’t any other HDR program that even compared to the tone mapping features that Photomatix had to offer, not even from Adobe.

In the previous versions of Photoshop, creating an HDR photo with the merge to HDR tool wasn’t even worth using, because there was nothing to use. Those who have used the previous version of Photoshop for createing HDR photos would agree, results from Photoshop weren’t comparable to Photomatix or even Picturenaut, a free HDR program.

Photoshop has finally evolve in the field of high dynamic range photography, and it’s about time! With the new Photoshop CS5, the Merge to HDR feature has been given a complete overhaul. Now I won’t cringe anytime someone says they use Photoshop to create their HDR images!

I spent most of the day reading and looking at the new feature of Photoshop CS5. First it is not a huge upgrade, really....

The new stuff like content aware, new brushes, mini-bridge, etc are not that great ... they are nice, but... anyway.. my two cents...

here i have played with one of my best sports photo. The idea was to use the (better?) perspective correction tool in Photoshop CS5. This was shot with a 300mm and a 1.4 extender.. so the perspective was good. But i fake a wide angle shot with the perspective correction tool... Now Nadal is in our face ;-)
Some minor color/contrast changes a bit also...

first it is just looking like a close up, but the fake wide angle look better..i think

tennis season is right around the corner.. more cool stuff ;-)

the actual untouch photo is under so you can compare witch one you prefer...

I've got to admit that I'm impressed by how powerful this tool is. I truly believe that all the artisic genes were bred out of my family generations ago, but CS5 and a willingness to play make it pretty easy to get some good, at least to my eye, results.
