German Shepherd Pack Leaders United : Just had to say what's on my mind today. I'm reading a post, and they're bashing these owners for not having the money to pay for an impromptu vet visit. They posted for help on the situation but what they get is a bunch of responses like "you shouldn't have the dog if you can't pay for vet visits;" "I spend over $300 on each visit;" "Put the dog up for adoption if you can't handle the bills."

What a bunch of pompous arrogant people. First of all there are homeless dogs in shelters wasting away, ready to die just because they don't have a home. So you bash people that take the time to care for this dog just because they don't have enough money to take the dog to a vet visit everytime he/she gets sick. I know adults (me) with no insurance that won't go to the doctor because they can't afford it. Should I put myself up for adoption?! Should I give up my kids?! Why if someone is asking for help would a person take the time to bash them for loving this dog? I admire everyone who opens their home up to a dog, be they rich or poor.

Love is the common factor that should join these forces.

Sometimes you don't go looking for a pet, sometimes it just happens that they enter your life unbeknown to their family. Why is that wrong?! I commend all those who love unconditionally and accept new members of their family no matter what their circumstance. KUDOS to all of US animal parents! Don't EVER let anyone bring you down! [Diamond]

P.S. This does not include hoarders that neglect their animals due to circumstances they themselves created. That's a totally different discussion and has no similarities to this subject matter discussed above.

Diane Richardson : Natura has a new recall and as soon Saw it I called Natura immediately. Cannot honestly say I am not dissapointed but I feel for the customer service people. They seem genuinely baffled. I spoke to the girl about an hour! She said after the last recall they doubled the testing they do, that none of the ingredients in the plant storage tested positive. That the food tested negative 5 times before being bagged and shipped and the California Natural food that tested positive was at a distance from the plant

I did ask if they were becoming conspiracy theorists and she said not yet :) there is however with ANY brand of food the risk that transport trucks will be wet and dirty and soak through contamination can occur (and I know this happened about 10 years ago brand name I cannot recall but DO remember that it took them almost a year to find out why ONLY their food being shipped to upper Midwest tested + for e coli and salmonella and none anywhere else)

I am still feeding the food. No dogs are sick no humans either and I have fed about 4-5 bags so far in the runtime of this recall.

I AM however getting a bag of Pioneer Naturals chicken GF next week to feed along with the Healthwise so that if one or the other is unavailable I have an option. Finding Great LIfe/Pioneer Naturals is very hard but found a place within 30 min of home. It is almost impossible to find an affordable food that Bella (Southern Black Mouth Cur) can eat (she is sensitive/allergic to brewers yeast, apples, pears, corn, wheat, soy) and that we can afford.

I am sending a small sample to Diamond but Mike mentioned getting it tested. My housebroken Lab is having too many accidents daily for about 2 weeks. Phydeaux : Unfortunately, there's been another recall from Natura. That means that we've pulled *all* of our Innova, California Natural, and Evo foods and treats from our shelves. As always, please ask one of our friendly Phydeaux staff members to help find replacement foods and treats for your dogs and cats. With the largest selection of pet foods in the Triangle, we've got something for everybody.

Since this is the second recall for Salmonella in as many months, we have decided to temporarily stop stocking Natura foods and treats for the time being. We have yet to decide whether we will continue to sell Natura products after new product becomes available in the next few weeks. We'll be having discussions amongst ourselves, with our customers, and with the management at Natura to determine whether we will continue to sell Natura foods in our stores in the future.

The K9 Back Pack : Voluntary Recall Information – Innova Holistic Pet Food RECALL: From Innoval: "We have some sad news to share. We are announcing today a voluntary recall of all Innova, California Natural, EVO, Healthwise, Mother Nature and Karma branded dry pet food and biscuit/bar/treat products with expiration dates prior to June 10, 2014.

We made this decision in part due to a single positive Salmonella test by the FDA on product manufactured April 3. Normally, this would have resulted in retrieval of product manufactured over just a few days. However, we are taking the additional precautionary measure to recall all products in the marketplace. Our first priority is the wellbeing of the pets we serve."
