1079mixfm : A Man Who Was Wrongly Imprisoned for 24 Years Gets a $6 Million Settlement . . . And Now His Ex-Wife is Suing and Says She Deserves Some of It
In 1983, Steven Phillips of Dallas, Texas was wrongly convicted of several rapes. He spent the next 24 years in prison until DNA evidence proved he was innocent. In 2009, he got a settlement worth about $6 MILLION from the state of Texas.
And his ex-wife Traci Tucker filed a lawsuit . . . because she wants to get her hands on some of that money.
Traci defended Steven when he was accused of the crimes, and after he was convicted. But in 1992, after he'd been in prison for almost a decade, they got divorced.
Traci says her rationale for the lawsuit is, quote, "he was a victim of a wrongful justice system, and his family was also." A court awarded her about $150,000 and Steven is appealing that decision.
Steven says he's had a TON of legal problems since he got his settlement. Quote, "When the cheese is on the table, the rats come out." He's spent at least $300,000 on legal fees since he was exonerated.
Traci is the first person in U.S. history to file a lawsuit trying to get money after an ex-spouse got a settlement for a wrongful conviction.
What do you think...does she deserve any $ ? ~Roxy~
High rates of sexual violence, stalking, and intimate partner violence were reported by women.
Nearly 1 in 5 women has been raped at some time in her life.
One in 4 women has been a victim of severe physical violence by an intimate partner in her lifetime.
One in 6 women has experienced stalking victimization during her lifetime in which she felt very fearful or believed that she or someone close to her would be harmed or killed. Much of stalking victimization was facilitated by technology, such as unwanted phone calls and text messages.
Almost 70 percent of female victims experienced some form of intimate partner violence for the first time before the age of 25.
Approximately 80 percent of female victims of rape were first raped before age 25.
Female victims of violence (sexual violence, stalking, intimate partner violence) were significantly more likely to report physical and mental health problems than female non–victims.
Across all forms of violence (sexual violence, stalking, intimate partner violence), the vast majority of victims knew their perpetrator (often an intimate partner or acquaintance and seldom a stranger). 27 minutes ago - View -

Expanded Consciousness : How would you respond to this message received from an Expanded Consciousness 'subscriber'/friend?
"I have a question, if I may....
I think I'm literally going through a huge terrifying awakening and realization of the truth. The truth of what I and EVERYTHING is. I know I know in fact. I'm scared now.... terrified in fact.... of how do I continue living amongst people who do not see what I see or know what I know? I cannot relate to anyone. I almost feel like I'm watching people in a Matrix and it's SO obvious to me that everything is all a fabrication of my mind, equally for everyone else. Am I wrong? Nothing seems important to me now. I'm going through a crisis. Have not gone to work in 3 weeks. Cant seem to tolerate people who dont see what i see. I know this VERY bad on my part. Am i crazy? Literally.. am I crazy? I am losing all my friends. They think I'm completely delusional. Telling me to go to a psychiatrist. I see now that all people are just leaning on other people (therapists, psychiatrists, religion, anything to overcome their own lack of knowledge. All fear based. But awakening is even MORE terrifying. Now I KNOW that no one else can help me. This is my journey. I am the universe observing itself (whatever that even means). I need help." 49 minutes ago - View -

Micheal Young Moguls Farquharson : Ooh boo hoo. VCB is not the shining starlet u all thought she was. She isnt the first athlete to take performance enhancing drugs, nor will she be the last. If this was Gatlin again, Alison Felix, or landbeast Jeter, there would be no talk of leniency. Stop proving the world right and being the hypocritical Jamaicans. She's 31...she has what, at best 1 more olympics left before she's relegated to god awful commentary on CVM. Knowing this, wouldnt you do the same? After being on top for so many years, wouldnt you do what u need to stay there?
...then again, it could all just be a terrible misunderstanding, and VCB is simply the victim of a mistake. She should fight it tooth and nail. The same way my cousin Pig was denied his pilot's licence...suppm must be off... 1 hour ago - View -

Most of mankind have yielded to Satan's misleading influence and have thus come under his power. (2 Corinthians 11:14) this fact helps explain why humans have been unable to improve world conditions.
The Bible also records more extreme cases, in which Satan or other rebel angels have taken control of people and caused them physical harm.- Matthew 12:22; 17:15-18; Mark 5:2-5.
You need not dread Satan's power. To avoid coming under Satan's influence or control, you need to learn how he manipulates people, so that you are "not ignorant of his designs." (2 Corinthians 2:11) By reading the Bible, you can obtain vital knowledge of Satan's tactics and thus avoid becoming a victim.
Get rid of any paraphernalia associated with demon activity. ( Acts 19:19) That includes amulets, printed matter, videos, music, and computer applications that promote spiritism or divination.
"oppose the Devil," says the Bible, "and he will flee from you." (James 4:7) By obeying the Bible's wise counsel, you can protect yourself against Satan's evil machinations.- Ephesians 6:11-18

There is this man. We met at National Library at City Centre and started chatting. He told me he was staying alone.
One day in May he asked me to escort him to his house to collect some reading materials and l accepted. When we reached his house he forced himself on me and raped me.
I left his house devastated. I could not believe it he had done that to me. Anyway l accepted my fate and one day he called me and apologised for all he did. He even bought me a card of apologetic message. I accepted his apology and we started chatting again. More than before.
Earlier this month l found myself at his house again and to my dismay he raped me again. This time two times.
I was angry. I wanted to report the matter to the police but l didn't. I just told myself never to trust him again.
Then again he came back apologising. He even cried saying he was sorry. He's bought me a lot of wonderful gifts and even a phone and clothes.
But he has been asking me to go to his house again. And l am afraid that he might took advantage of me. Or should l really go and trust that he will not rape me again?
He looks a nice man. Mwina satana amangomuchenjelera kuti andigwililire. Kodi ndingatani kuti zisamachitikenso?
