Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton started the women's right to vote movement in upstate New York and it took another 75 years to get that right through Congress with 1919 being the year. In the time in between, during the Civil War, one renowned educated Negro (a term used then) - namely Frederick Douglass - was the main man who sold out the women's right to vote for a paltry promise of the black MAN having the right to vote - later undermined after Lincoln's death by Andrew Johnsons appeasing his southern buddies and the passage on state levels of many Jim Crow laws. We are going thorugh the same bullshit all over again.

What need to go is THE ABOLITION OF STATES' RIGHTS - ONE SET OF LAWS FOR THIS NATION - AND NO MORE U.S. SENATE WITH ITS GOD-DAMNED FOOT-DRAGGING BULLSHIT AND ITS ARCHAIC FILIBUSTER PROCEDURES WHERE ONE MAN CAN FUCK UP THE ENTIRE LEGISLATIVE PROCESS.

REPOS have a way of turning everything upside down - now they grab onto the name of Susan B. Anthony and make it their own - with perverted opposite designs and aims.

They have previously done that with grabbing the name of Federalism and turning that upside down as well - the Federalists of the 1770s were John Adams and Alexander Hamilton who both foresaw the need for a strong central government - not fucking states' rights which were mostly an appeasement to the southern plantation owners!

Chris Etter : "The Great Gatsby" - I never read the book, though I'm sure it was on our suggested reading list in Junior High School. Does this movie do justice to the book? I don't know. All I can say is that this film is wonderfully directed and visually spectacular. Set in 1922, this film echos the extravagance and cavalier of the wealthy in prohibition-era New York City. I think it depicts perfectly the night life of the far too rich crowd that seemed to populate New York before the stock market crashed. But every single scene has alcohol in it, so I'm not sure that is historically accurate. It was prohibition, after all.
I really liked this movie, even though critics didn't. While I'm not a DiCaprio fan, he did a good job of portraying a young 32 year old Gatsby. Tobey Maguire was, well, he was your basic Tobey Maguire.
On a side note, I went with a date, and lucky for me the lights went out for 15 minutes (thank you, thunderstorm). Maybe that colors my review to the positive.

I live in Marin and did newpaper interview to bring awareness but now they are asking for and VSO in the area. I called the Marin County VSO and of course no answer and just message machine.
