Fred Jacques Fred Jacques : I don't know what makes me me more upset the death of this poor kid, or the "Fake Contempt and outrage" EVERYBODY feels for about three days then is quickly forgotten about and removed from the front pages for another story about some drunken star or a seventy year old paedo!! Thats the problem with us, us so called proud race, were fucking pathetic every last one of us, even those of us who have served our country, why???? Because we do fuck all about it, we need to band together, ever played rugby?? remember the 99 call in the lineout where you would turn around and punch your opposite number? and the ref couldn't to anything because he couldn't send everyone off? We need to do the same on the streets of Britain and take our country back, the so called government won't do anything about it, so it's time we did. RANT OVER!!

Carl De Asis Dioleste Carl De Asis Dioleste : MMDA 'disappointed' over Dan Brown’s depiction of Manila in latest novel     WHY DENY IT ???
(MMDA 'disappointed' over Dan Brown’s depiction of Manila in latest novel...)
"We are displeased of how you have used Manila as a venue and source of character’s breakdown and trauma, much more her disillusionment in humanity,” read the letter dated May 23.
One character from the novel, Sienna Brooks, joined a humanitarian mission to Manila only to be shocked by its poverty and then raped by local ruffians.
An excerpt from the book goes: “When the group settled in among the throngs in the city of Manila—the most densely populated city on earth—Sienna could only gape in horror. She had never seen poverty on this scale.”
The novel likewise described that the city has “six-hour traffic jams, suffocating pollution, and a horrifying sex trade, whose workers consisted primarily of young children, many of whom had been sold to pimps by parents who took solace in knowing that at least their children would be fed.”
“More than your portrayal of it, Metro Manila is the center of Filipino spirit, faith and hope… Manila citizens are more than capable of exemplifying good character and compassion towards each other, something your novel has failed to acknowledge,” Tolentino stressed.
“Truly, our place is an entry to heaven,” he added, reversing Brown’s depiction of Manila as “gates of hell.”
“We hope that this letter enlightens you and may it guide you the next time you cite Manila in any of your works,” the MMDA chairman noted. —KG, GMA News

It seems to me that anything that is written compassionately and perceptively probably satisfies every definition of religious whether a writer intends it to be religious or not.
...
Religion is a framing mechanism. It is a language of orientation that presents itself as a series of questions. It talks about the arc of life and the quality of experience in ways that I’ve found fruitful to think about. Religion has been profoundly effective in enlarging human imagination and expression. It’s only very recently that you couldn’t see how the high arts are intimately connected to religion."

They will use a laser to cut scare tissue that has formed around the wire so they can remove it. then they will put a new lead wire in. If that doesn't work the way it needs to they will put a third lead wire in to the side of her heart. That means they will have to replace the defibrillator for three wires. This will be done June 6th and if everything is ok she will come home on the 7th.

On the authority of Abu Najih Al-Erbadh bin Sariah, who said : The messenger of Allah gave us a sermon by which our hearts were filled with fear and tears came to our eyes. We said: "O Messenger of Allah, it is as though this is a farewell sermon, so councel us." He said: "I councel you to fear Allah and to give absolute obedience even if a slave becomes your leader. Verily he among you who lives [long] will see great controversy, so you must keep to my sunnah and to the sunnah of the rightly-guided Khalifahs - cling to them stubbornly. The McCormacks from Nenagh Tipperary The McCormacks from Nenagh Tipperary : It is with an enormous amount of sadness that we have to report the passing in the early hours of this morning Australian time of our beloved Imelda Mary (Mel) McCormack, nee Coombes, wife of the late Herbert Patrick (Sam for short ) McCormack who as you all know, wrote the wonderful family biography. Mel was 84 years old.

Mel had dementia and was ill for some time before her passing.
The entire McCormack clan I am sure will join us in sending out heartfelt condolences to her three children, Robert, Ann, and Brian and their families.

A funeral service will be held in Western Australia where she spent the last few years of her life near Brian. Her ashes will be taken to Evans Head to be interred alongside Sam later in the year, possibly in July. A memorial service is expected to be held there for those who cannot get over to Perth. We will give you more details on this as they become known.

Mel and Sam travelled extensively in the UK and USA to research the book and were loved and respected by many. We feel it a fitting tribute to them both to include the news of her passing on the Family Facebook Wall. Sam did so much to promote family unity and would love to have been a part of this social media networking. We feel sure he would approve of the "instant" way the news can be conveyed whereas only a few years ago, it would have meant many international phone calls.

If there is someone not on Facebook who you think may have known Sam and Mel, would you please on our behalf, pass on the very sad news.

"I'm sorry the kids decided this camera would be a good gift, I've hardly used it in the past year." [I've taken more than 20,000 photos in the past year. That's a conservative estimate]

"I didn't just spend twenty minutes outside in the cold wind without a hoodie taking macro shots of flowers with raindrops." [I did, I so totally did]

"Nobody wants to see these photos that I didn't just take." [Even if that's a truth, I don't care. I take photos for me and if you guys like them, then we both win]

"I knew my camera battery needed charging, so I charged the battery instead of taking as many photos as I could before it died." [I actually didn't realize my battery was that low, but I did take as many photos as I could before it died- which was when I realized that the battery was low]

"The windy weather makes macro shots SO EASY!" [Hahahahahaha!]

"For twenty minutes, I was able to ignore the pain." [Okay, that one is true, sort of. I didn't ignore it so much as I clenched my jaw and worked through it]

Dawn Kopman Whidden Dawn Kopman Whidden : Mike
Dec 13, 2012 Mike rated it 4 of 5 stars
A good story that captured my attention. One of those books that is not easily classified into genre. Not so much a "Whodunit" as a "Whydunit"... Why would such a sweet little boy do the awful things that he seems to have done? No one can quite get a handle on it.

While not a murder mystery in the classic sense there are aspects of mystery to it, as well as suspense, an occasional literary flourish, and some romance (a genre I'm not a big fan of but in this case it fit well in the overall story without getting too sappy).

The characters are well developed and realistic. It uses both first person and third person narrative, switching back and forth between three characters - child psychiatrist Hope Rubin, policeman Marty Keal and homicide detective Jean Whitley - without ever becoming the slightest bit confusing or hard to follow. Very smoothly and nicely done!

There were several moments I didn't see coming at all -- when I thought I had the end all figured out there was one final twist waiting to prove me wrong. It gets a little sentimental when it comes to the children being cared for in a facility for troubled children (who can blame someone for being sentimental about children?) and on the subject of family.

If you're strictly a fan of mystery and suspense then this may not be the book for you. If you're willing to try something a little different that mixes genres and leans a little more towards the area of character study and psychological issues then it's definitely worth taking a look.

Generally if I'm caught up in a story I have a tendency to not notice sparing use of profanity/strong language too much, so I'm not absolutely certain but I do seem to recall one or two instances of strong language in the book, plus there are a few places in the story with brief descriptions of violence that would not be suitable to very sensitive readers.

Rhonda Spencer Rhonda Spencer : ANDREW WOMMACK'S DAILY DEVOTIONAL:
JESUS TRIED HER FAITH

Matthew 15:27, "But Jesus said unto her, Let the children first be filled: for it is not meet to take the children's bread and cast it unto the dogs."

MATTHEW 15:21-39; MARK 7:24-37; 8:1-10

It is very clear in scripture that Jesus was sent to fulfill God's covenant to the Jews. However, it was equally clear that Jesus would open up faith unto the Gentiles. Jesus certainly knew this, and had already ministered to numerous Gentiles without the apparent disdain that we see here with the Syro-Phoenician woman. Jesus could not have been forced into ministering to this woman's daughter if it was not His will to do so. Therefore, His silence and rough answer to this woman must have been designed to accomplish a positive result.

Humility is an important ingredient of faith. This woman was a stranger to the covenants of promise and had no right to demand anything. Jesus' silence and then comparison of her to a dog would certainly have offended an arrogant person, and it is possible that for this very reason, Jesus tried her faith. Jesus didn't need to do this with the centurion in Luke 7:6-7 because the centurion had already humbled himself.

An integral part of faith is seeking God alone with your whole heart. If we are concerned about what people think and gaining their approval (or honor), we will never take a stand in faith for anything. After all we might be criticized for it. This one thing has probably stopped as many people from receiving from God as anything else. You cannot be a "man-pleaser" and please God at the same time. Satan uses persecutions to steal away God's Word and, thereby, stop our faith. To see faith work, we must say with Paul, "let God be true, but every man a liar" (Rom. 3:4).
