Thomann Green : TICK WARNING: The conservation reports say that due to the late snow in May, the ticks will be late coming out this year. They are wrong! Tuesday morning I found a tick embedded in my leg. I believe I got it on Sunday when Heidi and I went hiking at the nature center for FHE. I didn't use repellent or check myself or Heidi for ticks because of the reports. Tuesday afternoon I started feeling tired and cranky. Wednesday. morning I awoke exhausted. I noticed a red mark around the place where the tick had been, but didn't tie it to the fatigue. Today I once again awoke exhausted. By noon my glands were swollen and my tongue was starting to swell. Later I noticed that the tick spot was redder and warm, but still didn't connect it to my other symptoms. I called the doctor to see what to put on the tick spot to make it stop itching. He insisted that I come in right away. When I got there my fever was 102. The little tick had given me the Ehrlichiosis bacteria. All my symptoms are from that! So glad I called the doctor because it could have gotten much worse. I'm now on a two week antibiotic regime with rest and fluids. UGH!!! I have too much to get done. Moral of my tale: USE REPELLANT and WATCH FOR TICKS!

Travis Gates : I have realized something in my short time living that people are desperately searching for authentic relationships but there are not many to be had. We are too scared to be real with each other bottom line. We struggle with hearing what is really going on with someone and then being able to move forward without changing the way we think about them. We struggle with sharing our real self because we are always trying to project strength.

We feel like we have to figure out how to fix someone and all we need to do is agree with one another and ask the Lord to do the work. We need to constantly point back to Jesus instead of trying to be the solution in someone's life. And we should never put any one person in a place that was meant for the Lord because it will always fail. God can use people to provide His answer, but they are not the provision He is.

Better Judo : First Aid Tip!

Every dojo should have access to cold packs in case of injury. You can use real ice, which is messy and needs to be replaced, or a variety of reusable gel packs, which are expensive. A cheap alternative is making your own packs using rice and sealed food saver bags. These bags are easily cleaned after each use. Don't vacuum seal the packs however since you want your packs to be more pliable to wrap around an injury. You can make packs of various sizes to accommodate fingers, knees and shoulders.

CherylGary Daniels : We're still here in Detroit. We were first delayed because of weather, then weight factors, needed volunteers to reduce the weight ..no volunteers so they took off luggage with 1 person that finally volunteered. Now we could finally leave...right! We now were held on the tarmac because they failed to place use back into the flight plan!
Oh, gets better we now have to turn around & back to the gate because the flight crew is over their allowed flight hours which mean they are not allowed to fly the plane!
So here we sit & we are now being told that they have a new crew. We may make it to New York before midnight!

Interplanet Rabbit : I literally arrived home less than 3 hours ago after being out of town for over a week. What happens to me as soon as I turn on my trusty, semi-new computer? It crashes--permanently. Now I have to buy and/or build a completely new one from scratch. There's nothing quite like frantically attempting to transfer as many important files from the dying PC to extra hard drives as quickly as possible. :<

Moo's Deaf Dog Blog : I first saw Moo on my Facebook news feed and immediately fell in love. Moo is an Australian Shepherd, my favorite kind of dog, AND special needs! What else could I ask for? I have had Moo since the end of March. We communicate by signs, some ASL, some modified signs, and some dog obedience signs. I do this because I want to use what's best for her to see and use signs I can make quickly. When I first got Moo, she was WILD! In the first night alone, she broke my floor mirror and chewed up several stuffed toys. In the first week or so, she broke out of her crate, barked incessantly, was food aggressive and knew hardly any signs. She basically knew SIT and sort of knew LAY DOWN, but only for treats. Less than two months later Moo knows and performs SIT, STAY, LAY DOWN, ROLL OVER (her favorite), PAW, HIGH FIVES, POTTY, SHH!, FOOD, NO, GOOD GIRL, and GO TO BED (crate)! However, she is constantly seeing signs such as POOP, LEASH, PLAY AREA (dog park), NO BARK, NO BITE, etc. She no longer barks like she used to, is becoming less food aggressive, does her tricks with a better success rate, and is much more submissive. I created this blog for several reasons: First, I wanted to share any deaf dog training tips I have learned along the way, as well as read about any other ideas other deaf dog owners might have! I also wanted a place to brag about my dog without clogging up my Facebook page ;) Lastly, I wanted a place to vent about the challenges we face and the people we encounter who have lots of misconceptions about deaf dogs!

Ashley N. Walker : Today I picked up a devotional and it talked abt people who have did you wrong! Matthew 5:44-45 says, "44 But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who despitefully use you and persecute you, 45 that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust." I am hearing stories of children donating their piggy banks, and today we picked up waters from an elementary school in Tulsa, where labels were put on the bottle and the kids drew pictures and wrote messages to the victims, responders, workers and volunteers.
