Gary M. Bullio : As I lie in my bed reflecting on an absolutely Gift from God weekend with my beautiful wife, son and daughter; I remind myself of so many others abroad who sadly could not do the same.

Whether torn apart by tragedy, shackled by oppression, weakened by disease, chained by poverty, or imprisoned by hunger I am trying to remember those less fortunate.

Instead of making empty promises I will be honest, and say that I do not know what to do about it. I just hope that someday I realize when the Lord is giving me an opportunity to help, that I have the means to do so.

We are so damn lucky to live in the U.S.A. and most of us, including me, are guilty of taking that fact for granted. Next time we think we have it hard, let's try to remember the kids searching for slivers of hope in nations like Haiti, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, North Korea, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Sudan, Somalia, and Bangladesh.

Those children did not ask for their situation at all, but they still have the same soul and the same desire to love and be loved.

I want to help some of those kids someday.

Here's hoping that I am smart enough to see the opportunity when it comes....
