Gary Jefferson : ON THE ROAD UPDATE – State and county roads are so much more interesting to travel. We arrived in Park Rapids, MN early this afternoon. When we loaded up this morning it was 41F and raining. At the end of the day it was perfectly clear and in the mid 60s. I am glad to see some blue sky again. Four days of traveling in rain was starting to wear on me. Yesterday we found a McD’s special that fed us both for $5 – three hot chicken sandwiches and a pomegranate-blueberry smoothie. Today, there were no towns big enough to have the golden arches. We had to settle for double the money and two low-carb burgers at a competitor. Our next three days travel and stay are all planned out, so we can arrive in the lower-western corner of South Dakota on Saturday and for a couple of days explore the three parks that are there. The big change in store for tomorrow is I will not be wearing an under T-shirt (it’s getting warmer). I was glad to use my camera again today. I think it missed me. Blessings…. 3 minutes ago - View -

Reggie Laroche : Absolute fantastic day exploring London and its treasures.Walking along the south bank and the maze of the west end was like traveling in a time capsule! Discovered an amaging restaurant and wine bar located down a side alley near a beautiful park (more on that later). Temptation got the best of me at Harrods! The lure of Ladurée macarones accompanied by marie antoinette tea ( An elegant association of Chinese black tea, citrus fruit, flowers, light spicies and vanilla. A tasty blending thats sweet and delicate. Ladurée’s signature) was too much to resist. A little bit of Paris in the heart of proper London was just what I needed this afternoon! Ended the day dancing the night away with new friends down in Camden town Tommorow its all about museums and catching a show in the west end. 3 minutes ago - View -
~Once.... About 8 years ago... I almost tried meth. I spent a summer hanging around with some kids thy were much much older than me.. One of them, who I won't mention, had gone down a bad path an had gotten into some pretty nasty stuff. One day he asked me if I wanted to try. Of course being young and naive I said . So he brought me to the trunk of his car and said I had to buy the first one... So I asked "how much?" and he said "Bout tree fiddy" At that point I noticed this meth head was about 8 stories tall and was a crustecean from the loch ness. And then I yelled "DAMNIT LOCH NESS MONSTER GET OFF MY LAWN I AIN'T GIVIN YOU NO TREE FIDDY." and then that crazy old monster slithered off back into the loch ness. 3 minutes ago - View -
Jerseyfield : Adirondack Wildlife (mammals) Indiana bat (Myotis sodalis) Animal Fact Of The Day: The Indiana bat is a medium-sized mouse-eared bat native to North America. It lives primarily in eastern and midwestern states and in parts of the south of the United States
The Indiana bat is an endangered species. Endangered species are animals and plants that are in danger of becoming extinct. Originally it was due to loss of habitat and deforestation, now there is a new threat plaguing these docile creatures.
In the five years since scientists first diagnosed white-nose syndrome, the population of bats in the Adirondack Park has plunged so dramatically that their very survival is in question.
Little brown bats, once the most common bat species in the Adirondacks, have plummeted 90 percent. The already endangered Indiana bat is down 60 percent. Northern bats—the species that’s been hardest hit—are down 98 percent.

March Against Monsanto - Redding, CA : Timeline Photos MARCH DAY PARKING: This event is really growing so parking might become a small concern. There is plenty of parking at the Dollar Store & KMART parking lot a block from Hilltop/Cypress. There is street parking on the North side of Cypress on Bechelli. I've also learned that business parking lots are public property so its ok to park in a business parking lot if they are closed on the weekend and we are not obstructing their business. We will meet on the South side of Cypress and Hilltop and march against traffic down to City Hall. We cannot obstruct traffic and this is a MUST, so do not walk during red lights. When a light turns red, all will wait for the group to get fully across an intersection before preceding with the march. We can wave signs and shout out at people in the mean time. Thanks for your cooperation everybody! MARCH DAY PARKING: This event is really growing so parking might become a small concern. Steve Heller : I got a call this evening from a political polling organization which was pretty clearly doing some work for Chicago 4th ward Alderman Will Burns. It sounds like he is exploring a run against Danny K. Davis for the 7th district seat in Congress. Personally I have always had good response and service from Danny Davis and his office, but he does often seem to act like he doesn't want the job anymore. Burns represents Hyde Park in the City Council, so he no doubt is familiar with the "concerned" but as a South Sider would he otherwise be effective in representing Oak Park and indeed a district that is predominantly West Side and near west suburban? Does anyone know anything about Will Burns? 33 minutes ago - View -

Pearlie Taylor : Well...after a month and a half, I think I have almost adjusted to living in the south suburbs. My left eye has practically stopped twitching and longing to hear a fire truck or police sirens in the middle of the night has diminished. Even though I seldom took public transportation I WANT TO RIDE THE CTA BUS or at least see one. The upside is that I'm closer to my daughter and grands. She said "you need to be closer to family"
After 10 years of absolute resistance, I finally relented. So, here I am in Orland Park, in a pretty nice apartment I might add. The dining and shopping is terrific!!
By the way, my car knows the way to Chicago on its own. 35 minutes ago - View -
