Wumbei Zakari : "Unless the penis dies young, it will surely eat the bearded meat" courtesy Chinua Achebe, in his book "Things Fall Apart.".This book was attracted to we the young middle school leavers at that time who were treated to books called Red and Blue readers.Foreign topics like "Niagara Falls" were all our teachers forced down our throats.
Form four leavers could read and understand books like Things Fall Apart. The story was the life we lived in our communities. The Igbo community was not different from a Dagomba community, the negligible differences being palm oil and palm wine in Igbo while shea butter and pito in Dagbong. We continued to read more of Achebe in his other books like "No Longer At Ease" and "Arrow of God".This made us to read other African writers like Ayi Kwei Armah of Beautyful Ones are not born fame;Ama Ata Aidoo of the Dilema of a Ghost fame.We continued to read more Africans: Ngugi Wa Thin'ngo: Grains of Wheat and Petals of Blood;Ferdinand Oyo's House Boy.
These readings encouraged our age group to purse more academic work to come and change the academic face of Ghana and Africa.Any way no academic achievement can be made without reading. No research has proved that yet.
I hear the great one,Prof.Chinua Achebe will be buried in his home town to day.Lord I have no means of being there, send my words of appeal to the Almighty for forgiveness if he ever offened anybody.Amen. 17 minutes ago - View -

Still Mick Franco : Just got out of Family Court and the crazy part is that even when you take care of your kids financially, mentally and physically the court system has a way of making responsible fathers feel like shit. Out of 6 daughters the only one that tells me and show me that I done my best and no matter what shows me love is my oldest Tina. I should have just stopped there. That's how I am feeling right now. 11 hours ago - View -

The Crochet Crowd : Niagara On The Lake Golf Club Tourist Spoiler Alert: In traveling with Diva Dan yesterday to Niagara On The Lake in Southern Ontario for his work. Dinner was approaching and a local worker told us about a really well kept secret. It's the Niagara On The Lake Golf Club Restaurant. She was saying tourist think it's only for golf club members. The service and pricing are incredible. So we took a chance. Unbelievable customer service, probably thee best tasting food I have ever enjoyed in a restaurant. We ordered two tall beer, appetizer and entree. Included was a bottomless bread tray. ALL for only $57! Even better, the restaurant over looks the mouth of the Niagara River opening into Lake Ontario. Fabulous view. It's open to the public, treat yourself with exceptional food and service. I don't ever recommend restaurants, but if you are traveling to this region, make this place your lunch or evening meal plans. You won't be disappointed. 19 hours ago - View -

Connecting At Rimrock : Rimrock Thursday Nights
Discussing the attributes of God - - Grace “The word grace is as commonplace in our culture as water, but we must never forget the power of Niagara Falls or the incomprehensible nature of the ocean. Grace is the basis of all we have in this world and all we know about God, yet is as deep as the ocean and as life changing as the spring rain.” - - Evan is teaching; Chris is leading worship. Come and enjoy our last Thursday night for the season.
It has been an incredible season as we look forward to our return in the Fall.
