What am I talking about?

The currency that goes a little something like: Copper > Silver > Gold > Platinum

I mean, when someone says "10 gold pieces", you don't really see how that'd be an expensive thing, until you do the math and realize it's about 100 silver.

Just something I thought of.

Don't get me wrong, I like that kind of currency system, it spices things up a bit, rather than the plain boring one currency sort of thing.

Curwen Ares Rolinson : has had his application to use a computer for exams at uni denied.
I first applied for special consideration to use a computer for my exams and tests and such at uni 5 years ago, on grounds that I've had a disability that means I can't functionally write. Back then, it was newfangled thinking (Cambridge Uni in the UK was doing it, but NZQA had only just started), and my application went through to th vaunted heights of the University Senate before being turned down and told to re-apply in a few years. In the interim, AUT has gotten entire rooms of computers to serve its disabled students who need them for exams etc.

I was also told in no uncertain terms that due to my dexterity with a keyboard, were I to be allowed to type my exams (rather than writing them manually or using a reader-writer ... which I seriously hate), that I would be getting an unfair advantage over my fellow students.

I did point out that the whole "not-being-able-to-write" slash "relying upon reader-writer" thing was something of an unfair disadvantage over my fellow students (and that some people can write faster than others, just as some people can type faster than others can write), but to no avail.

Oh well, back to exam dictator-style.

As I feel more and more alone, my Iphone confidently connects with everyone. As I feel more and more lost, my phone calmly know how to get anywhere. As I struggle to remember mundane things like the name of that movie with the boat and the guy with the lip, my phone smugly recalls literally everything. As I increasingly lose the nouns, verbs and adjectives that once stood ready to articulate my thoughts, my Iphone taunts me with its instant access to all the words that have ever been. There is only one possible conclusion: slowly, without realizing it, I seem to have outsourced my mind to my Iphone. And to make matters worse, the damn thing knows it... and it's starting to screw with me … several times during the day I feel it buzz in my pocket, alerting me that some vital information has just arrived. Then, when I look, there's nothing there … no email … no text ... nothing. Was the buzz in my mind? I don't think so. I think it's purposeful. I think my Iphone is mocking me. And it's not just my Iphone. It's all of them. They are working together, systematically robbing us of our intelligence, our humanity. And then, when we are made stupid and helpless, they will take over. It's just a matter of time before the next generation of Iphone is equipped with an opposable thumb. Oh yeah, they're smart all right. Evil, world domination smart.
