On this day in 1295 the first elected representatives from Lancashire were called to Westminster by King Edward I to attend what later became known as "The Model Parliament".

The Lancashire Day proclamation is read out by town criers throughout the county on 27th November:

To the people of the city and county palatine of Lancaster

Greetings!
Know ye that this day, November 27th in the year of our Lord Two Thousand and Fourteen, the 63rd year of the reign of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Duke of Lancaster, is

Lancashire Day
Know ye also, and rejoice, that by virtue of Her Majesty's County Palatine of Lancaster, the citizens of the Hundreds of Lonsdale, North and South of the Sands, Amounderness, Leyland, Blackburn, Salford and West Derby are forever entitled to style themselves Lancastrians.

Throughout the County Palatine, from the Furness Fells to the River Mersey, from the Irish Sea to the Pennines, this day shall ever mark the peoples' pleasure in that excellent distinction - true Lancastrians, proud of the Red Rose and loyal to our Sovereign Duke.

Have you ever heard about the leader of the little piece of heaven( Oman).

Obligation and faithfulness is what he has given

His achievements were very fast and strong like a storm

His heart is full of sympathy and it is warm

He built our country in a magnificent form

Perfectly organized and Perfectly built is what I found

You won't get bored if you moved around

The green lands are surrounded

The birds were happy and their songs were sounded

His name is very unique every litter means something special

Q for the qualification and his ability of the leadership

A for the acceleration of the development in this little piece of heaven ( Oman)

B for the beautification that he brought to this country

O for the obligation to his people to make them happier then ever

O for the occasion that inspire me to write this poem

S for the satisfaction that everybody has in this nation

QABOOS is the leader of this little piece of heaven

Obligation and faithfulness is what he has given. Courtesy poem Red Rose.

Allah bless His Majesty Sultan Qaboos with Health & Happiness. Ameen — with Bijesh Kailasam.
