May 10 saw all Queensland MPs converge on Mackay to commence the formation of the framework to establish the Queensland Plan.
Each of us was accompanied by three of our constituents, chosen from diverse areas of expertise or experience to contribute to this
process.

The Mackay Summit saw more than 400 community, industry and government representatives collaborate to create six questions, the answers to which will be drawn from Queenslanders all over the State with a view to ascertaining where we all want
to be in 30 years’ time.

Residents in my electorate can now have a say in shaping the long-term future of the state by answering those six questions
through The Queensland Plan website:

I strongly urge my constituents to be involved. For those who aren’t so keen on commenting online, please feel free to contact my office for the six questions to be forwarded to you in hard copy or email, your answers to which we are happy to submit

Jo Ridgeway : A new project for the Tootgarook Wetlands. Many thanks to the MPS Health & Wellbeing Committee for supporting us.
The Tootgarook Wetlands is a much loved community space. It has a rich history of community activism. With the changing demographic across the Mornington Peninsula the membership base of the local friends group has changed. Some community members want to be involved in protecting the space whist other members wish to just enjoy the space and raise awareness of its beauty and value. Community Arts can play a key role by engaging community members in local relevant and meaningful arts projects that are driven by the community. A partnership between Eastbourne Primary School, The Friends of Tootgarook Wetlands and Community Renewal proposes a community arts project that captures and presents the relationship the community have with the Tootgarook Wetlands. The project will provide members of the
Friends of Tootgarook wetlands, local residents and school children with an opportunity to learn more about the small insects and animals that live in the area. The project will provide an opportunity for the community to work with a professional practising artist. Collaboratatively they will create sculptural ‘habitat’ artworks/ totems for placement in the Wetlands to encourage habitation. These 'totems' could be revisited by the kids and their families over months and years to come. As a family or individually they can explore the changing nature of the landscape or see if their ‘sculpture’ is still there and what lives in it now? This can provides an impetus to return again and again to the wetlands. And potentially develop a life long love of this particular part of the Mornington Peninsula and build a sense of community pride.
