John Ellison : It is odd that conservatives rallied in a "holy crusade" against Rev. Jeremiah Wright, when a tape of an old sermon surfaced during Obama's 1st run for president. His topic was that God should not bless but damn America for what the Rev saw as injustices.
After Boston, and now Moore, OK, I see evangelical Christians saying the very same thing, they just have a different list of injustices.

I do not blame 911 or Moore, OK on God. I do not know if they were judgment. What I do know is that like the 3000 in the twin towers and the 100+ in Oklahoma, we are all going to die. Jesus came and died on a cross to empower us to go and reach those who do not know Him, with the knowledge that God does not want to judge people but to save them! He is not willing that any should perish, but He wants ALL to come to repentence. The president's approval rating was at 51% in CNN's previous poll, from early April. The two point rise was well within the survey's sampling error.
The new numbers indicate that Obama remains popular, with 79% of Americans saying the president is likable.

But it's not just Obama. The Democratic Party went from a 46-48 favorable-unfavorable rating a month ago, to 52-43 in this latest poll. That's a net gain of 11 points.
As for impeachment-screeching Republicans? They're DOWN a net eight points from 38-54 a month ago, to 35-59 this week.

Boyce Watkins : I wonder how people would feel if George W. Bush made this statement to the students at Morehouse College:

"Nobody cares how tough your upbringing was. Nobody cares if you suffered some discrimination. And moreover, you have to remember that whatever you’ve gone through, it pales in comparison to the hardships previous generations endured — and they overcame them. And if they overcame them, you can overcome them, too."

On one hand, it coulld be seen as an inspirational remark. But on the other, should a standing president remind young black people that nobody cares about them? Sure, we know it's true, but I am not sure if a 100% white male could get away the statements that are overlooked from a man who is just 50% white.

Also, it seems to say, "Look, stop complaining about racism, it's not going to get any better." But does the president say these same things to gay men who speak up about homophobia or women who speak about sexual assault? Please inform me if this is the case.

Imagine that....."Nobody cares if you were molested by your dad. Nobody cares if you were raped by your boyfriend. Women have been getting raped and beaten for centuries and they endured. If they can overcome their assaults, then you can overcome yours too."

How would that work for a presidential commencement address at a women's college? Please tell me where I'm wrong.

We believe marriage between a man and a woman to be a moral, biblical value to be upheld. An IRS agent arrived October 15, 2012, to conduct a review of Samaritan’s Purse; and an agent arrived on October 29, 2012, to conduct a review of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.
