The Natural Parent Magazine : Anon - Hi mummas. I guess I'm after some reassurance here. My 8month old beautiful baby boy had his first fall today. He's been sitting up on his own for a while and my mum's partner took him for a walk outside and sat him up on a hard surface on a blanket, but my son lost balance and hit the ground, off the blanket. I went running when I heard him crying and as I have suffered from postpartum anxiety I ended up in tears. My boy is fine. He's happy and had a tiny graze that has now disappeared but I have been feeling crap all day from not being able to stop it from happening. My mums partner feels awful too, and my son is staying with them in two days for a few hours while I work so now I'm nervous something might happen again.

So, how is it that I can see my breath in the morning? It is true my tent is on the fringe of Mt. Kenya National Forest surrounding Mt. Kenya with highest peak 14,000 ft. and glaciers. But, really? Again, paradise.... cold enough you need a blanket at night, cool enough in the evening a cozy fire is inviting and midday is temperate. If you stand in the sun, us folks with white skin will burn and doing hard labor will make you sweat. Elephants, etc. within minutes, exotic birds and their songs ever present. ********************************************************************** However, the greatest gift is how in touch with spirit/faith/core the Kenyans are... we westerners are sooo sophisticated, logic being the test of "reality", we miss the knowing of our other, more natural, self. Our Inner Vision is not found in our "thinking heads", but in our essential selves... tapped into our Oneness with all. I have always found it easy to tap into Oneness with all things nature and have had a harder time integrating the human animal, however, Kenyans ... (don't quite have the words here yet) they give me entry where I have been reluctant to go, true Oneness with all people. To make this more clear... I've always been One with Nature. Animal are authentic... animals doing what they do, not many surprises. People, especially the more sophisticated, are unpredictable, unauthentic, purposefully removed from their essential selves. With a background of family alcoholism, its been challenging for me to get comfortable with or be One with sophisticated unpredictability... lies. Most Kenyan people are blessedly more authentic and incredibly intelligent...rather than sophisticated. Sooo refreshing and inviting!

Robin Harrison : today was a long one. back to work and today was my first day taking calls. its weird. had a bit of an anxiety attack at the end of the day. Just looking at my boys picture on my desk made me want to be back home cuddling in Forest's bed with my puppies. I always sleep there. if i try to sleep anywhere else i cant sleep. getting used to be up and at work by 6:30 am is wearing me down. good thing I have a coffee pot right on my desk. Reading about this man who paid for a hungry child's lunch getting fired from his job for no good reason, disaster every where you look, tornadoes, floods, bridges collapsing, everybody is sick or dying or dead! We have the means as a country, as a nation, as a PEOPLE to do something about this! But we have a GOVERNMENT that says NO! There's laws against doing the right thing anymore! If I could say one thing to that so called leader of ours I'd ask him when the last time his kid was refused a meal. When was the last time he went to bed worried about a sick loved one who couldn't get their medicine because they couldn't afford it and because Medicare said it wasn't medically necessary. When was the last time you lost a family member in an EF-5 tornado Mr. Obama? Or had to dig your child out from under a pile of rubble to watch her take her last breath?? We have sinkholes opening up in Seffner FL and swallowing people alive and the insurance companies don't even pay the families enough to get a new home! People being forced out of their homes with no where to go! Did that ever happen to YOU Mr. President? While you're up there in Washington planning your next vacation the world is going on around you and these people are good people who likely voted for you! Why are we feeding people in third world countries while our own children go hungry? Why are American Citizens being forced from their homes but illegals are given amnesty to stay here tax free? Why are you making it easier for criminals to get guns and harder for law abiding citizens to protect ourselves? Why are we killing our unborn children and letting our seniors wither away in nursing homes that aren't even fit to be animal shelters???
