Frank Maringelli : Here's a little game:
I keep a silent list in my head of "desert island discs"; albums of my favorite bands I would have to have with me if I were stranded on a desert island. The list could also include books and movies (there's electricity on the island).
Sue Sljivic : Interesting to hear Nurse Claire from phase 7 Sulawesi on BBC Radio 4 Desert Island Discs 23rd March 2014...as she is now known as Dame Claire Bertschinger (Nurse Humanitarian) her fond memories of Sulawesi and her unwitting involvement in Live Aid in Ethiopia...wonderful. Particularly like the rendition she played of Gungadin..aah memories 8 hours ago - View -

Dharmendra Valla : Nice article on 'Desert Island Discs' in the latest Audio Video Magazine.
Deon Schoeman's list was a bit predictable but there were a few surprises from Joel Kopping and Justin.
Anyways it made me think -What discs I would take to a desert island?...and I could not isolate JUST 10! I realised that music and cds have changed and grown with me. I thought Tori Amos's Little Earthquakes was brilliant at the time ,but sounds rather dated now!
Instead I have chosen 10 artists to come to the desert Island with ME! Which Island is going to have an Oppo Cd player anyway-LOL!
So here's my top ten artists - Paddy McAloon, Roger Waters, Natalie Merchant, Mark Hollis, Michael Stipe, Tori Amos, Rufus Wainright, Colin Vearncombe and Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou. Now I could live with that .I would love to pick that reclusive Paddy's brain!
So in the words of Barry Roux 'I put it to you..' all out there- what are your Desert Island discs! 1 day ago - View -

We Love Maggie Smith : BBC - Desert Island Discs - Castaway : Maggie Smith Let Me Not to the Marriage of True Minds (Sonnet 116)
Performer: William Shakespeare
Let me not to the marriage of true minds
Admit impediments. Love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove:
O no; it is an ever-fixed mark,
That looks on tempests, and is never shaken;
It is the star to every wandering bark,
Whose worth's unknown, although his height be taken.
Love's not Time's fool, though rosy lips and cheeks
Within his bending sickle's compass come;
Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks,
But bears it out even to the edge of doom.
If this be error and upon me proved,
I never writ, nor no man ever loved. 1 day ago - View -
