PBA and NBA World : Doc Rivers to Discuss His Future With Celtics GM Danny Ainge

For the time being, the LA Clippers have walked away from the Doc Rivers/Kevin Garnett sweepstakes, but Doc’s future with the Boston Celtics remains quite murky. Rivers and GM Danny Ainge will sit down and have a critical chat today. Per the Boston Herald: “According to a league source, Rivers hopes after that discussion to make his first public comments regarding his future since saying on May 3rd that he was uncertain if he would be on the Celtic bench for the 2013-14 season. ‘I am meeting with Doc (Wednesday),’ Ainge confirmed. ‘He’s coming to town. He was coming to town before the events of (Tuesday), so we were planning on meeting (Wednesday) anyway.’ The discussion will come a day after talks broke down on complementary deals that would have allowed Rivers out of the remaining three years on his Celtic contract so he could coach the Clippers, sending Kevin Garnett to the same club in a separate but related move. In return, the C’s were looking to get a combination of players and draft picks, but the Clippers backed away some time (Tuesday) morning. Now the Celtics and Rivers must decide whether it is realistic for him to stay with the club after expressing interest in another job. ‘I don’t know if anything will be decided (Wednesday) or if anything will be resolved,’ said Ainge, the Celtics’ president of basketball operations. ‘I just know that I’m meeting with him.’ Ainge did speak with Rivers by phone (Tuesday) after the Clippers pulled away from the trade talks and both teams had proclaimed the negotiations done. ‘It went good,’ Ainge said of that conversation. He was less certain when asked where Rivers now stands on his career. ‘I don’t know,’ Ainge said. ‘I don’t know. I’ll wait for him to decide that.’”

Boston Celtics News and Updates : So pretty much the Celtics have the upper hand in the negotiations now since Chris Paul supposedly got the Clippers to start the trade talks again, and rightfully so. Clippers would be stupid to not take a major upgrade at the Center and Coaching positions, while also locking up CP3 for some more years. Celtics doesn't have much to lose so Ainge isn't going to be quick to make a deal. Either they give us Jordan, Bledsoe, and a first round pick. Or they give us Jordan and 2 first round picks, while taking one of our bad contracts (most likely Lee) with them. No reason to accept anything less, and like I said Clippers would be dumb to refuse a deal.

Lets Go Celtics : I feel like this new trade offer KG and Doc for Bledsoe and Jordan wouldn't be bad trade. Doc seems he doesn't want to stay in Boston anymore and to be honest KG is getting old but I would like him to retire a Celtic. Bledsoe and Jordan are still young and can still improve a lot and we could get a new coach like George Karl.

I even enjoyed watching St Johns and Whitmer BEAT DOWN on some of the same teams you cats played for in high school because y'all don't understand the difference between FLASHY/ENTERTAINING basketball from FUNDAMENTAL basketball! Therefore I look at the game from a coaches perspective. Everyone is as equally important in a win and loss. With that being said I want the ball in my STARS hand at the end of the game. I don't want missed free throws and turn overs and lazy play. I want heart! You can score 20 points in the the 4th quarter but if we lose and you have 4 turnovers and an airball in the last 2 minutes HELL YEAH I'm a be upset. If you ball out in close ou games but have under average games in games 2-5 HELL YEAH I'm a be upset! I'm not a fan of FLASHY play. I'm a fan of smart play and most importantly CONSISTENCY! There's no hate of LeBron James this way. The league needs a face and HE'S THAT DUDE! But he will be has to EARN my respect just like all the other greats. Period!

Andrea Noble Trio : I don't understand why HEAT fans and players are held to a higher standard than other teams. No, I do not believe a game is over until the final whistle blows, however with the trophy already being carted out it sent a message. Had I paid money for a game in the finals, they would have had to push me out. NBA talk : I feel people give the Celtics a pass since they won in 2008, but they havent been well managed since then. I understand, more than any non-professional individual around that the NBA is a business and no team is obligated to do anything other than pay you.

HOWEVER, constantly dangling their stars, turning around right after and saying they never 'shopped' you, TRADING KENDRICK PERKINS FOR A THEN HAM SANDWICH(Jeff Green), stabbing Ray Allen in the back (twice at least), arrogantly overrating Paul pierce/KG/Terry/Rondo/Green core, the Jordan Crawford trade, and now this PR disaster involving Doc.

Doc quit on the team, yes, but why dont you just fire him? He's obviously not the answer for a rebuilding team, why parade him to try and speed up the rebuilding process? I mean, I get it, but if he is unhappy and not your guy either way, why all the public back-and-forth?

The Ainge Effect has struck more often than lightning, and people gloss over it because its the Celtics.

I think its time we call Ainge and Grousbeck out on their shoddy job the last 5 years. I know its been largely successful from a certain perspective, but that doesnt cover up all the mis-steps Ainge and Doc have done over the years, that have seemingly underminded the big 3's effectiveness.

Just food for thought.

Keith C. Willette : To all the Miami fans that got locked out of the arena after there early exit I have one thing to say. SCREW YOU! Look back to last year when the Celtic fans refused to leave after a definite end to there series. They just stood there yelling Lets go Celtics until well after the game ended.
