PHS Pirate Band : AMP - Association of Music Parents Boosters, Parents, Kids & Band Supporters;

Be thankful we have an awesome district and High School that sees music as a program worth keeping. What if we were in the same boat as this school? Would we have enough booster & parent support to pull together and raise the funds necessary to keep our awesome director?

Every year we barely scrape by trying to fundraise for the kids so they can participate. Only 6-8 people attend booster meetings and are active in the program. What would we do?

Just something to think about as we head into the summer months preparing for Band Camp and a fall season of comps. We are fortunate to have an amazing program to participate in I just wish more kids and parents were active and would take ownership in it.

What Can I do to make you want to participate? What fundraisers would you like to see? How would you help if Mr. DeRoest's job was being cut?

Susan Lee : Praying and planning the kids (and my) schedule for the summer break. So far we have band camp, private music lessons, a mission trip to Belize (YAY!), strength and conditioning camp, library trips, fun memory making....etc etc etc...
Making sure the schedule is God based and not just plain business. So grateful for children who are disciplined and are good at what they do, but that also means a lot of investment both time-wise and finacially. Just got off the phone with Suzy's band teacher to let me know she needs a Flute that is roughly $2,000 to 3,000 dollars because she is that good and needs a higher end flute! Trusting God for both His guidance this summer and His divine provision because it is HE who has gifted these kiddos...lol. Anyone have an extra $2,000 to spare??? LOL...

Nate Newton : I just realized that the sweet little 8-year-old that was in a summer camp for which I was the music teacher--back in 2003--and who asked me to accompany him on the piano while he sang this beautiful song that I still remember to this day--is one of the seniors graduating from Wachusett High School and who is in one of the choirs that I frequently rehearsed throughout this school year. My how time flies!!

Samantha Hopkins : Alright people who did yearbook, I have a couple of words for you.
So a lot of us are really aggravated because we lost a student this school year. Just a few months ago, actually. He was a big deal and he was a part of the band family. You didn't even put at least 1 picture of him anywhere in honor of him. Not 1. Never even mentioned it. To you, he may not have affected your lives but he affected ours. So thanks a ton for not even writing in honor of Damian.
Oh also Marching band is a thing if you didn't know. We saw that you had pictures. We work our butts off during the fall too. So again thanks for mentioning us in the slide show.

Omaha Girls Rock : We are sixteen donations away from 100 donors! This is so incredible. Here are sixteen facts to get us to 100 donors before 3 pm:

1) Over 50% of attendees are on full or partial scholarship
2) Over 60% of attendees have never held the instrument in their hands they play the week of camp
3) Over 40% of attendees are members of minority groups
4) Omaha Girls Rock purchases over 400 lunches the week of camp for the attendees and volunteers
5) At the end of camp, campers say:
6) "I can make a difference in how girls are viewed"
7) "I learned I don't have to be someone I am not"
8) "It was one of the most amazing things in my life"
9) At the end of camp 15.1% of campers changed their survey to Strongly Agree in the belief that a group of girls can accomplish anything.
10) Band names like Urban Scrunchies and Jumping Giggles
11) Hearing the camp song sung by 70 people!
12) Parents of campers say:

Ramona Perry Plymon : Last day of school.....I now have a sophomore & 8th grader. The girls had a wonderful Freshman and 7th grade year.....full of blessings. Summertime here we come.....cheer practice, cheer camp, basketball conditioning, basketball camp, church mission camp, BAND CAMP and hopefully sometime on the boat.
