Radu Sava : Auburn's Newest Granite Tiles The city of Auburn is honoring maestro Michael Goodwin (director of the Auburn Symphony for 17 years) with a commemorative tile on Lincoln Way. Wonderful! However at the same time two other people were honored in the same way which reminded me of the history and the background of California Foothills. The tiles are for law enforcement officers - the first one "fought Rattlesnake Dick and Tom Bell Bang in the 1850's."... He "was tough," the tile says. The other officer's major achievements were investigation the 1904 Weber family murders and being "in a shoot-out with the Cox Brothers in 1916." Soooo these are the heroes of our area, the wild wild west. Once again thank you Michael for bringing music and culture to our lives. STOP!! Don't buy all those store made salsa's with all the nasty preservatives in it. You can easily make your own and it will taste much better then the stuff you've been getting in the store.

Simple and delicious: Chop 5-6 Roma tomatoes,1 small onion and 1/2 cup fresh Cilantro. Mince 2 seeded Serrano or Jalapeño peppers and 1 clove of garlic. Add 2 tbsp. freshly squeezed lime juice and salt and pepper to taste. Mix everything together and let sit overnight for flavors to meld.
