Michael Fairview : As much of a fan as I am of NASA, I do believe that the agency's days are numbered. I think that no longer will the US government consider space exploration a worth wild endeavor. Shame, really. The special interest groups MUST get their return investments.

What these near sighted individuals do not consider is that Space Exploration has many rewards than simply boosting someone's stock opinions. It's so much more. We humans have always been explorers. If not, our species would still be in the trees of Eastern Africa. We branched out, exploring Asia, Europe, and centuries later the Americans and Australia. Space is our next great endeavor. The 1960s got that part right, at least for a while. Oh by the way, YES WE WENT TO THE MOON. I got tons of data that trumps our wonky theory about a flag moving funny.

I stated in my first paragraph that NASA is no longer up to the challenge...so maybe we should turn our attention to the private corporations like Virgin Galactic and SpaceX. Already, the Dragon capsule has made un-piloted flights to ISS and it could easily carrying a human crew.

My point to this drunken ramble, which I am very good at by the way, is to state that Space Exploration is needed. We craved it, and if the government wants to penny pinch, then let the private corps take over.

By the way...I am for hire as an astronaut.

I track fireworks and bomb related events around the world, yet I never see cases coming from indigenous people in Africa. Asians, Europeans, and others go crazy with fireworks, but I do not see it in Africa.

I was talking with a film producer the other day, who happens also to study this. He too has found nothing from Africa.

Do you? If so, please be specific on the country and culture so that I can look into this.

Now I'm off to pray to the host of archaic horrors so that my consciousness might be downloaded into an 'Exploratory Survey and Mining Robot' that will be dropped on planets henceforth unseen and nigh on unimaginable. (preferably in a humanoid and damn near indestructible form. I'm pretty rough on the meat-casing I've got now...)

I understand the fear from the dealerships that the automakers will start selling direct and they would be left out, but excellence demands the ability to control your supply chain.

This is akin to forcing food trucks to have a brick and mortar location in order to be allowed to exist.

However, in the comments section there is the dumbest comment (and that's saying something since it's Yahoo) I have ever read. It basically said that we could reach other planets if we stop paying actors and athletes millions of dollars. Okay...what in the hell do actors and athletes have to do with space exploration?
