Joan Medina : Lots of people on the street tonight, despite the rain. Trying to keep dry and warm in the few places they can. Jacob is still on his bench under the trees in his sleeping bag, rain or shine. He has to leave the bench in the middle of each night when the sprinklers come on for half an hour, about 2:30ish. Met lots of new people tonight, including CJ and Pat, Chris and Dora (who she proudly showed us has Peanut roasting in her womb), Jody on her way to catch a bus, and Tom. Saw a gal I haven't seen since early February, who I helped put up in a motel on a freezing, icy winter night. She was really glad to see me, and thrilled we still were giving out hot coffee. We're getting lots of compliments on the coffee lately, some folks telling us it's the best coffee they've ever had. When we tell them it's organic and shade grown and fair trade, their jaws drop. I imagine they usually drink a bitter dry roast that comes from a can. Glad Ted made two carafes tonight instead of just one, we went through most of the coffee tonight with the cold rain. Gave out all our supplies by 10:30 pm tonight, it was a really quick night. People were congregated together to stay warm and dry. One place was seven people, the last stop there were nine or ten. We'd stop to help an individual and more would come out of the woodwork. We even gave out several books tonight, in spite of the rain. Jacob got another Dean Koontz and a collection of short stories from George RR Martin and Neil Gaiman, among others. CJ got a book about spiritual growth. Pat picked out an Eric Van Lustbader. Dora got a Tony Hillerman and Chris scored a Sookie Stackhouse. Sad to have missed our connection with David tonight, hope everything is okay with him. 1 hour ago - View -
Ursula Akosua Brown : the stupid petition that seeks to annul millions of legal Ghanaian votes of the 2012 elections has proven to have more errors, omissions, irregularities, malpractices, statutory violations, irregularities, malpractices, duplications, intentional wrongdoing, etc...
EC has been accused of many things for some unavoidable errors committed by some temporal officers on the election day, yet the petitioners who were expecting a perfect job from the EC had over 4 months to prepare their evidence, and this is what we got coz they never had any evidence, itz just a ploy to cause problems for the gov't and save them from embarrassment and attacks by their supporters.
Is this what they call "watertight evidence"? Coz I can see more leaks in it than a wikileaks cable 1 hour ago - View -
United Christian Broadcasters : First Lady Michelle Obama and her daughters brought a small Irish village to a standstill this week as they met Bono and his wife for lunch at a pub. Have you ever spotted a celebrity or well-known person, while you’ve been out and about? What is your personal ‘claim to fame’? 1 hour ago - View -
Cassie McSasserson : My 16 year old son told me tonight at dinner that people around the world riot against their governments, Americans are lazy and sit and do nothing. I am so proud of him for seeing what is going on and I feel a little like I have let him down in some way. He knows I protest my garage is full of signs of past protests, I try to educate and contact our elected officials to let them know my feelings on vote etc. but in the end I feel as if I am beating my head against a brick wall covered in broken glass. 1 hour ago - View -
