Die Hard Chicago White Sox Fans Die Hard Chicago White Sox Fans : Well Sox fans, we need to turn things around, and quick. We don't exactly have a ton of depth in our farm system, which means there isn't a lot of trade bait either. So 2 questions- A) how much of the blame do you put on Robin for the team's lack of success, and B) what can possibly be done to get the Sox back on track?

John Wharton John Wharton : By blaming the best offense in baseball for his inept closer, the Tiger's manager just pushed this situation from awful to incredulous. Hitting MLB pitching is the most difficult thing to do in all of sport (unless of course, you are losing by 1-4 runs and batting in the 9th inning against Burrito Grande). Placing a conical shaped bat precisely on a sphere moving at 90 plus MPH leaves you with less than one square inch of contact space to be made in about .7 of a second. It is why anyone who does it 3 out of 10 times over his career ends up in the Hall of Fame. The Tigers offense does it well enough to even have this farcical "closer" in the game. More often than not with a 2 plus run cushion. While in the game, the pitcher is supposed to have an over 80% advantage. Not with this clown. And for Jim Leyland to say that "people (read, fans and media) are focusing on the wrong thing. Focusing on the closer. Where was the offense"? Is not only insulting to educated fans and media, it is insulting to his superb core of hitters. Big time. These guys place their cones on more spheres than anyone in baseball. And to blame THEM for the godawful performances of the guy who is trusted (No, I still cannot say his name) to do HIS job and get 3 outs puts Mr. Leyland on a slippery slope. I do not have any idea WHY he continues to defend this guy. The larger concern, now, is HOW he chose to defend him. By blaming the best offense in the game. Incredulous.
