George Sivrides : When we try to elucidate what the author meant, we seek his meaning in his text, not in his mental state. (Mr. T.S. Eliot is reported on more than one occasion to have said that he was in no better position than anyone else for knowing what a work of his meant.)

Bob Branciforte : Dear friends,
My dad was checked into Seaview Hospital on Staten Island for water on his lungs and had a heart attack in the wee hours of the Saturday before last. With no DNR, it took them 15 minutes to resuscitate him but in several days he miraculously came through it without brain damage. He was clear and cracking jokes as usual.
Danielle and I flew to NY to support dad and my family (Mom, Jay, Mike, Sal, Jess) in the process as did my brother Lou and his family from CA. By the time we left, dad was so proud of us all and was at peace with his decision that at 88 years old he doesn't want any more procedures. His plan is to spend a week regaining his strength in the hospital before going to a rehab facility. Please keep him in your prayers as he heals himself to reveal the Greater Wholeness Within.
Nancy Daigle Larrivee : I know my son is sick when.... All day yesterday he didn't ask to play a video game. Looks like he will be staying home from school today as he is still running a fever. Now to get my other son to go to school while his brother is not is another thing as he wants to stay home as well. 2 days ago - View -
Sum Mer : “The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but
shorter tempers, wider Freeways, but narrower viewpoints. We spend more,
but have less, we buy more, but enjoy less. We have bigger houses and
smaller families, more conveniences, but less time. We have more degrees
but less sense, more knowledge, but less judgment, more experts, yet more
problems, more medicine, but less wellness.
We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too little,
drive too fast, get too angry, stay up too late, get up too tired, read too
little, watch TV too much, and pray too seldom. We have multiplied our
possessions, but reduced our values. We talk too much, love too seldom, and
hate too often.
We've learned how to make a living, but not a life. We've added years to
life not life to years. We've been all the way to the moon and back, but
have trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbor. We conquered outer
space but not inner space. We've done larger things, but not better things.
I say we need to remember, to spend some time with your loved ones, because they are not going to be around forever. Remember, say a kind word to someone who looks up to you in awe, because that little person soon will grow up and leave
Remember, to give a warm hug to the one next to you, because that is the
only treasure you can give with your heart and it doesn't cost a cent.
Remember, to say, "I love you" to your partner and your loved ones, but most
of all mean it. A kiss and an embrace will mend hurt when it comes from
deep inside of you.
Remember to hold hands and cherish the moment for someday that person might
not be there again. Give time to love, give time to speak! And give time to
share the precious thoughts in your mind.” 3 days ago - View -

Hadith of the Day : I know a man who lost his parents but refused to be called an orphan. He was man enough to love a strong woman years older than him; worked for her and made her stronger, opened his heart to her, shared his fears with her, cleaned after himself, sewed his clothes, and was faithful to her till her last breath. He was good looking, courageous and fearless. He never judged anyone on their pasts or looks, and was moderate, open-minded and tolerant. His neighbor was Jewish and his cousin-in-law was a Christian priest. He was beaten and exiled when he was helpless. Was merciful when he became stronger. Intelligent, wise and a hard worker. He loved his daughters and grandchildren. His last will was of equality, piety and good action. This man is the Prophet Mohammed, a man worth looking up to - peace be upon him. The Patrick Miracle : Wendy Nelson's Photos Princess was shot in the eye with an arrow on Mother's day. Her community stepped up to save her but have now incurred a rather hefty and unexpected (since she's not their dog) expense.
Please help them!
She had to have the eye removed. The bill was 2000.00 The couple that stepped up to help her had to pay 500 up front because it's an emergency vet and it was required to even have her looked at. They were NOT prepared to endure these expenses and I am trying to help them.
If you'd like to help please make a donation directly to the vet:
