Ysatt Trinidad Ysatt Trinidad : Looking for somewhere interesting to visit? Why not go to the Toco lighthouse?
The historic Toco Lighthouse on Trinidad's Northeast Coast was opened in 1897. It was recently refurbished into a centre for tourism and community activity. Refurbishments included the restoration of the exterior of the Lighthouse tower, repairs were made to the Lightkeeper's building and the installation of safety barriers now ensure there are secure boundaries to the site.
In August 2012 our Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar announced that the lighthouse was to be renamed the Keshorn Walcott Toco Lighthouse in honour of Mr. Keshorn Walcott for earning this country a gold medal in the 2012 London Olympics. He became the youngest Olympic javelin champion in history.
So why not take a drive there? Spend a full day exploring the area and! On a clear day you can see our beautiful sister isle in the distance.
