Todd Consumedor
Todd Consumedor : NOW IT MAY BE TOLD: When I requested for prayers for our Filipino UN Peacekeeping troops in Syria, who were surrounded by rebels last night, they were actually running very low on ammunition as they fended off consecutive waves of attack by the enemy. By that time, they had earned the ire of the rebels as our troops had already inflicted some casualties upon them. The situation was getting critical as the rebels wanted to avenge their casualties.

As darkness settled in, the Filipinos were already actually hatching a plan to use the cover of darkness for an escape and evasion (E&E) action. At three minutes past midnight last night (Syrian time) they stealthily left their positions, crossing a rebel minefield and tactically manoeuvred under threat of ambush and capture, to traverse a two kilometer uphill hike to the safety of Israel. One hour and thirty minutes later, the last element of our 40 man platoon crossed into safety.

To all those who said a moment's prayer for our troops, thank you so much for being the homefront that every soldier needs. Your prayers joined the thousands sent to the heavenly Father who heard our cry and once more proved Himself faithful.

On another note, once again, the Filipino soldier has proven himself a cut above the rest. when others surrendered their weapons and gave up their positions only to fall hostage to the rebels, our soldiers stood their ground and fought it out. Such has been the legacy of our men in uniform. Even with the scantiest equipment and with no air support nor hope of reinforcements, they once more proved their mettle as they have done so many times before. To our troops, a snappy salute to all of you! Congratulations! God bless you all!
