Sasi Kumar : Stand with Edward Snowden This 29 year-old analyst just gave up his whole life -- his girlfriend, his job, and his home -- to blow the whistle on the US government's shocking PRISM program -- which has been reading and recording our emails, Skype messages, Facebook posts and phone calls for years.
When Bradley Manning passed this kind of data to Wikileaks, the US threw him naked into solitary confinement in conditions that the UN called "cruel, inhumane and degrading".
The authorities and press are deciding right now how to handle this scandal. If millions of us stand with Edward in the next 48 hours, it will send a powerful statement that he should be treated like the brave whistleblower that he is, and it should be PRISM, and not Edward, that the US cracks down on:
Rachel Marie-Michaelson Richardson : Timeline Photos At Essence magazine's sixth annual Black Women in Hollywood pre-Oscars® luncheon Gabrielle Union received the Fierce and Fearless Award. She started her acceptance speech: "We live in a town that rewards pretending" and had our rapt attention. A minute later my jaw literally dropped (I was sitting next to Iyanla who turned to me and whispered, "Close your mouth") when she said “I used to revel in gossip and rumors. I lived for the negativity inflicted upon my sister actresses or anyone who I felt, whose shine diminished my own. I took joy in people's pain and I tap danced on their misery.”
I had never heard anyone be that honest in public or private about the competition and fierce drive to be seen and succeed in Hollywood.
That competition is even more charged for women of color because of the dearth of roles.
So I was inspired by Gabrielle's speech to break open the truth and have a real conversation.
This Sunday on NEXT CHAPTER four of the world’s most accomplished actresses: Viola Davis, Alfre Woodard , Phylicia Rashad and Gabrielle Union join me to talk about their work. Getting roles; how the world sees them and they see themselves.
After NEXT CHAPTER we’re going even deeper airing DARK GIRLS - a phenomenal documentary from Bill Duke that opens the door on the light skinned/dark skinned issue around the world.
The first to apologize is the bravest. The first to forgive is the strongest. And the first to forget is the happiest
One of the biggest hindrances to a person having great relationships with the people around them is if they are willing to forgive and forget people and their actions.
To be truly happy we have to realize that life isn't about holding on to anger, and showing people about how right we are, it is instead about finding the best that life has to offer, and who we should share all of the things that life has to offer with.
So be forgiving today. Apologize, even if you know that you are one hundred percent right in whatever particular circumstance that you are facing. But most of all, choose to give your mind and your heart to being the person that you believe in, and get out of your mind all of the things that are only hindering you from being happy. Only then will you be brave, strong, and happy! 1 minute ago - View -

Sondra Rachele Darlington : Timeline Photos Tonight on Channel 7 Live at Five KATV Alyson Courtney will introduce you to this Bryant mother who was faced with a heartbreaking decision when she got pregnant with her second child. Doctors told her the baby had a fatal condition and she could either terminate the pregnancy or deliver her son, but if she chose delivery, there was virtually no chance he would live longer than a few minutes or a few hours. It's tonight's Hope & Healing: Inside Arkansas Children's Hospital. Brave! I would put it in God's hands and let nature take it's course. 2 minutes ago - View -
