After Peter Frampton's "Frampton Comes Alive" in 1976 set the tone for everyone and his brother putting out a double live record! But, this Record was special beyond belief! My brother Michael purchased this record for me in 1977. I fell endlessly in love with this record! It is larger than life! One of the best Gam Rock/Art Rock bands of the 70's. This band had moderate success. I feel that they were highly underrated. Bill Nelson was the driving force behind this band. He is still my favorite guitar player of all time. None Cooler! They hailed from Yorkshire, England. This record is sonically mesmerizing. Huge guitar sound! I remember doing so much research into Bill Nelson during this pre internet time. I remember being so impressed with the fact that he had an guitar effect technician. Simply a guy that would change his pedals and his settings before anything digital became available. Quite extraordinary for its time. It was Produced by Bill Nelson and John Leckieand. The Album consists of recordings from the Rolling Stones Mobile Studio! Recorded in London, Leeds and Bournemouth in 1977. The mainstream music critics panned it. Rock history has forgotten it. And its a holy shame. This is good as it gets! I learned every guitar lick on those two records! And I mean every one! While other guys were picking up Eddy Van Halen's licks, I couldn't have given a rip! I was all about getting myself a Gibson 335 and a Hiwatt British Amp and learning those cool guitar Riffs! So, here's to you bill Nelson and BeBop Deluxe! "Live in the Air Age" is a masterpiece worthy of great praise! BTW, it also came with a double album set accompanied by an EP. I sure wish I had that today!
